I thought Cala got a 3 match suspension for his sending off at Sunderland. If that's right, he had to miss out on the Newcastle and Chelsea games last season, and the Blackburn game on Friday. I assumed he'd served his penance and was free to play if selected against Coventry and Huddersfield.

Now, I've just read this in WOL.............

"Q: Are you still intent on bringing in new players?

OGS: We are still looking for a centre-half, but it is not about just making the numbers up. Anybody we bring in must be right one. We have Juan Cala back from suspension soon (he will miss the Coventry and Huddersfield games) and Ben Turner to come back from injury so if we add a player it needs to be the right one. We are still in talks on signing a player."

Is that correct - was it Ole saying it and being mistaken - or was it WOL inserting that bracketed gem and putting words in Ole's mouth?

Is Cala available for Wednesday or not?

Googled Jaun Cala Suspension and got this from the Daily Snail: -

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...FA-misconduct-Cardiffs-defeat-Sunderland.html

Lower down the article it says he is suspended for the first 2 games of the Championship.

Then we have Sky Sports version: -

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...nded-for-three-matches-after-fa-charge-upheld

This says he misses the final game v Chelsea and the first 2 matches "next term".

Does that include the cup game or not? Was he suspended for the Newcastle game - auto 1 match ban then another 3 for appealing the misconduct charge, plus a £12k fine?

All very confusing. Ole has said he doesn't want Hudson to play tomorrow so KTC might play cb.

    Looks like no one knows.

Looking further, it looks pretty much that he should be out for Huddersfield, though I can't see why the ban should include the CC game at Cov if you read the FA ban imposed.

He missed out on the Newcastle game serving his automatic one match ban for the professional foul at Sunderland, but that wasn't the end of it.

It was the "incident" in the tunnel after he was sent off at Sunderland that apparently earned him a further 3 match ban - our last game against Chelsea, and to quote the FA, the first two matches in this year's Championship season. Does that mean "Championship fixtures" or just any official competition games?

Why should that affect the Carling cup game on Wednesday in between the two? If it applies to that, then he should be OK for Huddersfield. This is becoming as clear as mud. <doh>

I don't think anyone is 100% sure, as you say the CC game should make it 4 games but apparently not.

Surely in all previous cases a domestic suspension will apply to league and both cups. Therefore the Cov game must count, if he's out for Huddersfield that must mean they banned him for longer.

IMO he's available for Huddersfield, doesn't mean he should play though!

I'm not bothered as I don't want him anywhere near the team. He's a liability.

I think you're being a bit harsh there Nin, though I agree he can be a bit avant garde in his approach to the game.

Not the best defensively minded CB we've got, but is easily the best we've got for endeavour. This is the championship remember, and he wont face the class we struggled against last season.

I'd honestly like to see him in the middle of a back 3 with the likes of Brayford/Fabio/John playing wide providing the pace. He's a real enthusiast for the fight, and with other solid CB's around him could be a star performer driving the side on. In fact, I reckon on that score he'd make a good captain if we wanted an outfield player to rally the troops instead of Marshie.
