Read today that West Ham might table a bid for him as Seedorf is keen to play in the Premier League. I don't know what he would cost in terms of a transfer fee and salary but, if he was affordable, would you guys be in favour or not?

There is absolutely no doubt about his pedigree and even at 36 years of age he is still a force in the game. Imagine how he could influence the squad with his vast experience and ability. With ML at the helm and Seedorf pulling the strings on the pitch, our profile in the game would be amazing.

I know his shelf life is limited but if we could get one, possibly two seasons out of him, it could go a long way to securing our Premier League future. Thoughts anyone?

Definitely not, we wouldn't go for journeymen who would want a last big pay out and our fast paced passing game wouldn't suit a player like him either.

Seedorf a JOURNEYMAN?????????????? Do me a favour, Liberty. He is past his best but a journeyman he is not!

This is a guy who has won FOUR Champions League medals with three different clubs and plied his trade at the very top, throughout his career, with teams such as Ajax, Real Madrid, Sampdoria, Inter Milan and AC Milan. Oh, and he has 87 caps for Holland, mostly when they were a world force.

As for our "fast paced passing game", with all due respect, it is anything BUT "fast paced". It is accurate, methodical and, at times, intricate but fast paced it is not. One of the major criticisms levelled at our game last season was that it took too long to get the ball to the business end of the pitch; that teams had all the time in the world to set themselves up and get organised to defend against us. Had we been able to up the tempo, I'm sure we could have been knocking on a top eight place, or better.

Players with the ability of Seedorf use their head to save their legs. They see, and make, passes that lesser players can't and don't. I would see him as a midfield general using his huge experience to orchestrate the others, letting loose the fliers, because his knowledge of the game is immense, far exceeding anyone else at the Liberty bar, of course, ML himself.

Just my personal opinion, of course, and I accept that there will be others who differ.......

Seedorf is a giant for Milan. For reasonable money worth a punt. The guy's old but can still get it done - which means he's young enough. Seedorf for Gower ..... no brainer.

I did say "IF" we could afford him, musty. As Yankee says, the difference between him and Gower would be like comparing a Lada to a Ferrari - and I mean no disrespect to Gower who always did his best for us. I wish him well if he moves.

Wages may well be prohibitive, but this guy is the dog's. As ivor said our game is anything but fast paced. Can't see us being a big enough draw for him though, but you never know.

Do we want someone called Clarence playing for us ? ;)

Joking aside though Laudrup won't go for him as his age is against him.

    Absolutely Yes Ivor

Bit like the Marcos Senna scenario last year heh

    Seedorf's perspective:
    - "Total football" in the premiership
    - Laudrup or Allardyce ?

    = no brainer

Why does everyone think his wages would be prohibitive. If he wants to play in the Prem for a total football club managed by ML then he'll take what he's given or he can bugger off and blow bubbles at Upton Park. He's not young, he's only going to get one limited chance to play in the Prem, and it's not like he's been making peanuts - he should be set for life. If he wants it badly enough he'll compromise.

Some thoughts. Because of his age, I doubt there will be a glut of clubs after his signature. West Ham is the only one that I am aware of, although there could be more.

I don't think that Seedorf is after a "pension". When you have played the game for as long as he has, at the level he has, he won't be short of a bob or two. He also does pundit work on TV, so I don't believe that his main motivation is money.

He has stated that he wants to experience Premier League football before he calls it a day. Being the type of player he is, I doubt he would be interested in playing for the likes of Stoke City (no disrespect) etc. He is a football man and would prefer to play for a team that plays football the right way. We know the top 6 do, but they have mega millions to throw around and tend to invest in the new young guns, the future Clarence Seedorfs if you like.

We would fit the bill in that we are as good a footballing side as any in the Premier League and Seedorf will know and respect what Michael Laudrup stands for. If Laudrup wants him and the wage demands are sensible it would make sense to me. The things that our players could learn from training and playing alongside someone like Seedorf would be inestimable, in my opinion..... And, yes, Cam, it is redolent of the Marcos Senna situation except that Seedorf, I believe, is a further step up from him.

Ivor I normally don't like looking at players this age, but his record at Milan stands as a testimony to the players stature, I agree that he would be the sort of Midfield general, that would really give us a presence in the midfield, his quality is unquestionable, and I think it's a target we could look at, he'd be far better plying his last few years here at Swansea than West Ham. There's no doubt Ivor your on the ball lately!.................... <cheers>

Why not a CB AND Seedorf? I believe he's a free agent so no transfer fee involved.
