A move to take Bafana Bafana midfielder Daylon Claasen to English Premiership side Queens Park Rangers this week could still go ahead, SuperSport.com understands. Claasen has been the subject of interest from new QPR manager Mark Hughes and his Belgian club Lierse would be willing to let him leave if the price was right. The sticking point appears to be around a work permit and whether the player would be able to successfully appeal to the British authorities to get one issued. As things stand, he does not qualify for the documentation having not featured in enough of Bafana Bafana’s Grade A (competitive) matches over the past two years. However, there is a chance that he can get a permit on appeal, if the authorities feel he is an exceptional talent who deserves entry. Stacked against him though is that with just eight days remaining in the transfer window, it looks likely that he will run out of time. SuperSport.com understands that QPR are willing to wait until the end of the season though and renew their interest in the July/August window. Claasen has been a revelation for Lierse this season and has drawn interest from a number of top clubs in Belgium, as well as across the European continent. He has appeared in 20 matches for Lierse so far this season, scoring four goals. http://www.supersport.com/football/bafana/news/120123/Claasens_QPR_move_in_balance
Hes not exceptional, no one on here had even heard of him before this week. At least Henrique was top scorer and player of the tournament so you could argue hes the best SA prospect but someone unknown who have finished last in the Belgian league 2 seasons running (I presume they have a playoff relegation system)
Another work permit, might as well get a desk and put someone permanent into the Immigration office! Don't know a lot about him, anyone help me out here ?
Not to brag put I feel I have a broad knowledge of players throughout Europe from my distinct careers on Championship/Football Manager, FIFA, Pro Evolution Soccer etc. and an obscene amount of hours each week watching this ****. But I have never heard of him before last week! Can't say I'm overly excited about the prospect.
