We're not ready for it. Even if we did scrap fourth we'd get kicked out before even making the group stages. We are terrible at the moment. Even against lower teams, the only difference is they don't close us down and give us space to take poor first touches etc and even then we can't finish. £100 million spent on NEW signings and we're NO better than where we were this time last season. That is a fact. Thoroughly disappointed with both the players for their lack of fight and complacency in most games and with the management for such shoddy signigns and tactics.
We spent 30million on improving the squad, not 100million on improving the first team. Expect phase two to start in the summer with buying fewer, but of higher quality, players to build upon the solid squad we have now. I'm still looking for a premiership title in 2 seasons time, not this year or the next and I think that's the realistic goal for us.
so in two years liverpool will overtake man utd and man city? with 1/3rd of the season still to go, you are already 19 points behind utd. tbh, you might be 4th in two years time
Hate the negativity that floods on to the board as soon as we lose We'll probably beat Everton and Arsenal and we'll be amazing again
I've not once thought we've been amazing this season. If you have a problem with my opinion then fair enough but I'm far from being a yo-yo fan if that's what youre getting at
I It wasn't really aimed at you mate, and in a way I agree with your OP. Edging fourth would help us to bring in better a better quality of player though and help us to be better prepared. Even though we are on the same amount of points, we're in a much better position as a club this time around, and I'm still optimistic about the remainder of the season, still a lot to play for and a lot worth playing for
NP, sorry for assuming. I am optmistic for the future, but at the moment, it dissappoints me that we're not where we should be - Spurs have done so little over the last few seasons and yet they're flying high - we need to get a rhythm going and gel and I don't think we will be able to with some of our players.
Anyone else think this season resembles Rafa's first? Way off the pace in the league but CC final, and maybe FA as our CL final? A lot of similarities I think, although I think we should be doing so much better in the league than we are. As long as we have some sort of Europe. We need to crawl before we walk, get back in and continue to improve.
Yeah a little, the competition this season is much greater than it was in 05' though, A lot of very strong squads up and down the table
Put this in another thread and thought it should be in here to. Key games: All todays games. LFC v Arsenal 3rd March Newcastle v LFC 1 April LFC v Chelsea 5 May Arsenal v Spurs 26 Feb Arsenal v Newcastle 12 March Arsenal v Man City 7 April Arsenal v Chelsea 21 April Chelsea v Spurs 21 March Chelsea v Newcastle 14 April Newcastle v Sunderland 4th March Newcastle v Man City 5 May So many massive games still to come. Arsenal and Chelsea also have Champions League putting extra pressure on their squad. teams around us will drop points, so we have to take advantage against the teams lower down.
The problem for us unfortunately has been against the so called "Lesser teams" If we can start picking up more points at home we're in for a good shout. But we've been saying this all season and we need to start implementing this theory now. 2 Cup games coming up now which is a welcomed distraction from the league at the moment and a good day out at Wembley
