Last night I had the pleasure of attending my eldest daughters City 7s presentation at the Brit. For those of you Stoke fans who have young children, grandchildren etc I would recommend you take advantage of this fantastic scheme.Basically, for all those unaware, when your child reaches the age of 6 you get yourself an application form from the ground fill it in and send it back with a cheque for a tenner. In return, you attend a presentation evening at the Brit with your child where they receive:A Soke home shirt, two tickets for a game, a five pounds voucher to start a City Savers bank account with Brittania and lots of other goodies.
The presentation at the Brit last night was first class, well organised and fun.The look on my daughters face when Ryan Shawcross walked in to present the childrens Shirts etc will stay with me forever.A quick word on Ryan...he sat patiently for over 1-1/2 hrs having his photo taken with children and signing autographs. He had a smile and a word for everyone and we should be proud to have such a gentleman as captain of our football club.
On a personal note when I was in the line with my daughter waiting to get her photo taken with Ryan .I immediately regressed back into childhood and the naive excitement of meeting one of my footballing heroes. One of the men you watched every week who in your eyes could do no wrong win, loose or draw.Because they played for YOUR team, of course they were the best and obviously they all cared as much as you did about our beloved Stoke City . Part of me wants that naivety back again but on reflection in our current Chairman,Manager and a few select players we do have people who genuinely love our club as much as we all do.
