Might as well kick start the board again with an actual match to think about (look forward to even?).

****e the Queen died when we were on a roll as the Leeds game was, I think, set up for us to continue the run but I suppose having so long off refreshes some players and give Ten Hag some planning time.

Time to play Casemiro for me. Him in, McTominay out.

    Rest of the side picks itself;

the front three is Antony, Rashford and Sancho.
    Behind them Casemiro, Bruno, Eriksen
and behind them Malachia, Varane, Martinez and Dalot.

Hopefully Martial is back as well.

This is going to be a real test for the back 4. They may not keep a clean sheet but if they come through this with a strong performance then it'll be another big step forward for the defence.

Really looking forward to what he can bring to this squad.
He looked up for the fight in pre-season and was back to full speed.

Rashford potentially not fully fit so an opportunity right there.

My thoughts exactly. I'd like to see the different combinations with Martial. With any two of Rashford, Sancho, Antony, and then Eriksen, Bruno.

I have always thought martial is our most calm/clinical striker (though Greenwood could have surpassed him).
That said, Sancho has shown a very calm head and clinical finishing in these early games, not seen enough of Antony yet to form a valid opinion.

This is one of those matches again where we could get smashed but yet if we go in front we could get an unlikely win.

City clear favourites. But just keeping my fingers crossed that we can keep Haaland at bay. A huge task. Heart says a draw but head says 3-1 home win.

I see no reason why we should get smashed. All the talks right now is about Haarland. That aside, when City has played a half decent team this season, they haven’t always had their way. The setup at the back gives me confidence, and with Antony and Sancho on on the flanks, we should be able to put in a decent fight for a result.

Not sure why we signed Casemiro if it wasn't for games like this.

They've all been ****e but I'm not sure McTominay has even touched it, not seen him, not heard his name once.

    Against decent opposition he hides.

How Ten Hag thought he'd be a better bet than Casemiro is beyond me.

Even worse than I’ve imagined. Midfield non existent and not able to string 2 passes together. Frightened ****less. An absolute disgrace.

This has been puzzling me for weeks. £70m on an experienced player only to still have confusion as to who is starting.

There really shouldn't be any confusion. McTominay isn't good enough, never has been, never will be, yet Casemiro is an experienced Brazilian international winner, and is good enough.

    It's an absolute no brainer.

Hopefully this is the game where Ten Hag weedles out another spoofer, like he did with the likes of Maguire and Shaw after the first couple of games this season.

The players just didn’t turn up in the first half. Yes, city were probably going to win it anyway but unacceptable how Utd didn’t give them a game.

Hate to labour the point but I doubt Casemiro would have been overawed by playing at Man City, like one or two others appeared to be.

    He ****ed up there.

Anyway, nothing we can do about that.

It a real shame the Queen dying knocked the wind out of our sails as we were playing well and would have likely got four points from the two postponed games going into this game which, let's be honest, we would probably expect to lose anyway. We're still half a decade beind City squad build wise, way behind, and this result would have seemed less disastrous on the back of a proper run of form.

We'll just have to pick it back up against Everton and in the EL games.

Let’s hope that TH and the players are not demoralised but learn key lessons from this debacle. It was obvious that some of the players were overawed by the occasion. City were very good but we were also dreadful when all the midfield players were giving the ball away.

And anyone obviously overawed should be put back in the reserves.

I won't mention McShit again (soz, just did) but equally culpable today were Rashford, who seemed to give up after about fifteen minutes, Sancho wasn't great(although nowhere near as bad), and Varane I think exaggerated a minor 'injury' to come off.

Which just meant another bottler in Lindelof had to come on.

Mistake leaving Ronaldo in the bench too. A piss take to be honest, unnecessary although he claims he didn't think he should put him on in those circumstances. He should have replaced Rashford at half time. Or Martial should have, and Ronaldo on for Sancho sooner.

All of this Ten Hag will work out and deal with hopefully.
