Top Premier League official Mike Dean will take charge of our final fixture of the 2011/12*Barclays Premier League campaign against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Dean, who was also in charge of our 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Loftus Road in March, will be flanked by S Burt and A Garratt, while N Swarbrick will take up fourth official duties. Dean began refereeing in 1985 and eventually went on to officiate within the Northern Premier League. Over a decade later and Dean had finally progressed to Football League assistant referee status, before being added to the full referees' list in 1997. In 2000, Dean was appointed to the Select Group of referees, allowing the 43 year-old the licence to officiate in Britain's top-flight. Dean suffered facial injuries during a 2009 South Wales derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City, when he was struck with a foreign object from one of the Cardiff supporters. Dean has taken charge of several notable finals since his promotion to the Premier League, including the 2004 FA Community Shield, 2006 Championship Play-Off Final, 2008 FA Cup Final and 2011 League Cup Final.
