While the Robins kicked off December with three points, Birmingham made it a losing start as Barnsley battled back to clinch the win at St Andrew’s in the week. Scott Hogan had put the Blues into a 56th-minute lead – their only shot on target of the night – before a Cauley Woodrow penalty and Callum Styles’ deflected shot won the game for the Tykes.
Manager Karanka has said his players were “too nice” in the defeat and he was critical of his side’s passing ability. He’ll expect his players to improve in these regards as they look to bounce back against the Robins.
The Blues travel to BS3 with just one a win away from home all season, which came when they beat Preston 1-0 at Deepdale at the end of October - Riley McGree and Gary Gardner were on the scoresheet that day. Defeat to Holden’s City on Saturday would mean seven games without a win, which would be their worst run of the campaign.

looks a better team on paper …. lets see if we can keep up the top 4 winning! Bournemouth and Reading both have 4 - 0 & 2 - 0

The word "dire" was used about us in this match. You will miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

We were in control in the first half on the whole but didn’t score, Callum was causing problems from midfield. second half for some reason Callum moved out wide and we ran out of steam. To be honest we looked knackered, they deserved to score and did.

Although not a pleasant game for you to recount, it's nice to see you discussing football on here.

I thought this matchday thread of yours was very quiet and suffered as much from the other stuff being talked about on here as much as your dissappointment about the actual game itself.

You've gained a lot of points so far and not played that well - that's kept you up there in the table. Hopefully for you, the performances will improve and you'll stay there or thereabouts until the sharp end of the season when it'll be all to play for. <ok>

Disappointing result and performance by the sound of it. The division once again proves there are no easy games, and that nothing is a given. Need to try and bounce back from this latest setback, but the home form is once again starting to be an issue.

Second half the amount of games and small squad due to injuries finally seemed to catch up with us. Tbf we’ve done well so far all things considered, the question now is how we will manage with so many games coming up. If we can somehow manage to stay in touch long enough for our injured players to start returning then we may be in with a chance, the next few weeks are going to be really important. My honest opinion is we’ll struggle and finish 8th - 12th.
