BRISTOL City expect fans to vote with their feet and pack out Ashton Gate for next month's Derby showdown with Rovers. please log in to view this image Bristol City Fans Tickets for the eagerly-awaited Johnstone's Paint Trophy first-round tie on Wednesday, September 4 – the first competitive game between the red and blue halves of Bristol's football divide since 2007 – went on sale today and Ashton Gate officials anticipate doing brisk business. Rovers have been allocated 2,250 seats in the East End, but City expect more than 15,000 home fans to turn up for a fixture that is to be screened live on Sky Sports TV. Capacity at Ashton Gate is just under 19,000 these days and the Robins are not ruling out a full-house crowd City head of media and communications Adam Baker said: "This tie is the talk of the town and seems to have caught the imagination of fans of both clubs. We have more than 8,000 season ticket holders already and there are a lot of other people out there who want to see this game. "I would think there will be a minimum 15,000 home fans and we are hoping to attract a lot more than that. "In fact, it is possible the game might sell out completely." City fans will be able to buy tickets on all four sides of the ground after it was decided not to give Rovers fans the entire East End. "We have more than 1,000 season ticket holders in the East End and we don't want to disrupt them," added Baker. "Rovers have been given an initial allocation of 2,250 tickets, but there is scope for that figure to be increased in the event they sell out." Following consultation with Rovers, City officials have decided to reduce ticket prices for the derby. Adults will pay £15, senior citizens/under-18s £10 and under-8s just £5. Tickets went on sale today and seats belonging to City season card holders will be reserved until 5.30pm on Tuesday, August 27. All non-season ticket holder seats are available on general sale from 9am today, while unclaimed season ticket seats will go on general sale on Wednesday, August 28. The match will be all-ticket for home and away fans, with no sales on the day of the game. Rovers will begin selling their allocation to Priority Group One members (season ticket holders on production of voucher C, 1883 Club Members, Helpline Members, Supporters Club Share Scheme Members) this morning (9am). Priority Group Two members (Supporters Club and Young Pirates) will then be offered a first opportunity to buy on Wednesday, August 28. Any tickets still remaining after that period will then go on general sale on Saturday, August 31. Tickets are limited to one per membership and will be available to purchase from Pirate Leisure at the Memorial Stadium or at the Supporters Club shop on Two Mile Hill Road in Kingswood. The match-day ticket office will also be open after the games against York City (August 24) and Northampton Town (August 31) at the Memorial Stadium. Both shops will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday. The Supporters Club will be running coaches to the game, priced at £4.50, and they advise that you purchase these at the same time as your tickets. Pick-up times for the game will be confirmed shortly. http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/story-19690417-detail/story.html#axzz2cWRZSEGM It's going to be a good one fella's, get your tickets early...Up the City..And Remember - It's Gonna Be a Showdown..
This is the one truly good point about us being back in League 1. We now have the opportunity for a genuine competitive match against the blue half, and I hope that both teams and their fans savour the moment and enjoy it. Neither team is flying high at the moment. We look like a League 1 team and Rovers are struggling to push themselves back up to this level. It's a highlight in what will probably be a frustrating season for both sets of fans.
According to a Rovers bulletin, a spokesman says that he doesn't believe that they will sell their entire allocation of tickets given trouble at Newport (and against us previously), and with it being on television.
Evil posts reports.... Bristol Rovers fans queue from 7am for derby tickets More than 100 Bristol Rovers fans were up early this morning to get their hands on a prized ticket for the derby with Bristol City next month. what a piss poor turn out, known as the blue few
Online has crashed - again. Tried for 2 hours to get through by phone - engaged - do they have enough staff ? Hang on automatic answer - 'we're experiencing high demand for fans renewing season tickets' !!!! Now been ringing for over 5 minutes with no reply. I'll try again tomorrow. I wonder if we're in for another City shambles.
Just got back from ashton gate with my tickes got there for 9 about a hundred or so already there left at 10 as computer problems caused the system crash due to online demand! Tthere must of been another hundred or so behind me most seemed to be buying multiple tickets for mates etc, we should sell out easily
Phone didn't take long to get through to someone as soon as the line was actually working! Surely this has to sell out?
