Head coach opens up on midfielder's future.
    • Johnson reveals winger has been offered new terms
    • Freeman's current deal expires in the summer
    • Londoner joined the club in 2014 from Stevenage
City have offered Luke Freeman a new contract, head coach Lee Johnson confirmed today.

The winger’s current deal is set to expire this summer and Johnson admits there has been interest from other clubs for Freeman’s services.

However, the City boss is desperate to keep the tricky midfielder, who joined the club in 2014 from Stevenage.

“I want Luke to stay,” the head coach said at his weekly press briefing.

“We’ve already offered Luke a very good new deal and he was on the verge of signing. Hopefully he will do.

“In the Championship he has been getting better and better. The fact is he’s out of contract in the summer and clubs will be interested.

“We would be delighted if Luke signs the new deal.”

Freeman has made 121 appearances for the club, playing a key role in the double-winning campaign of 2014/15, and has scored ten times.

I would prefer Freeman to stay but unless he signs quickly we need to get rid.
We don't want a repeat of the farcical Maynard situation.

IH might not be there much longer, the QPR owner is no where near as patient as SL

If we got 1.5/2 million for him I would think we could use the money to buy better overseas. I always thought he had more natural talent than the likes of Bryan and Reid. However much he floats about he has very little in the way of end product to his game.

Wouldn't get that much for him I don't think. He could leave for free in the summer. Anything approaching £1m would be good business. Like him, but very one footed and not really championship+

Thought I read it was more but may be wrong. The pull of going back closer to his family will be a big attraction for him.
I think we will see more players from overseas especially as we made such a decent profit on Kodjia.

That does concern me a team with no British identity.we have traditionally kept our British roots at Ashton Gate
