http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20607144 I'm afraid the writing is on the wall guys. We will be very lucky to comply with the FFP Regulations at this rate. As a result I cannot see much transfer activity this January or next summer. I think Del will have to make do with what he's got. It's all down to the players now. Time to man up and take responsibility and ensure our Championship status. I can't see us getting rid of Del either because again it will cost us in compensation and the costs of appointing a new manager. Then again, what will be the cost of getting relegated, if that does happen!? We are in catch-22 from this point forwards. It's time for us all to pull together and get behind our team!
I did Mike, I hope that we can put a run together at some point because I don't think we can buy our way out of our predicament in January and nor can we afford another managerial change finance wise. What's also worrying is that the board seemed surprised by the latest figures. Don't they keep tabs on the clubs expenditure!?
We're very quickly missing our chance to cement our position in this league, and with this news it seems that we're stuck with both McInnes and the players are currently have at our disposal. The best we can do on the pitch is to cheer on the club, support McInnes and for the players to secure their statuses as Championship players. A lot of people will disagree with me, but I think Lansdown should take a gamble and start building the new stadium now. We have permission and according to the council we are allowed to build now. If the board meets with the major to gather his support I'm sure the club and the council will back the build and we'll put significant pressure on the numpties that are blocking the move. If we move quickly I reckon we'll get ready for the 2015/16 season, and whether we're in League 1 or not we can fill the stadium and bring a sense of pride back to the club.
' The deficit recorded in 2011 was put down to rising player wages and severe delays in the development of their new 30,000 stadium at Ashton Vale. City sacked and subsequently paid off manager Keith Millen, his assistant Steve Wigley and coaches Alan Walsh and Stuart Naylor in October 2011. They also had to pay compensation to St Johnstone for the appointment of McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty. McInnes opted to release 11 players in the summer, including David James and Kalifa Cisse, two of the club's highest earners. Midfielder Lee Johnson and defender Nicky Hunt both had their contracts terminated and paid up in January. Meanwhile, the recent accounts show the stadium project cost City £148,696, compared to £0.6m in 2011 and £1.9m in 2010. ' Not good reading.....
...and that's 'in year' losses, with 11.4m losses the year before. If that was cumulative you'd be in even deeper **** PS...on reading further...actual overall debt of £41m !
'What the hell have they been spending that amount on!' They paid up Lee Johnson's contract - thanks Dad. Steady 1For.
We realy are deep in the s1ht arn't we...............god forbid, but is the begining of the end? Relegation looms which is devastating enough, but what if SL finaly calls time, and who can blame him, what then for the future? I have never felt so down as a City fan....
As I said in several different threads, so much wasted it's unreal. I am not at all suprised with that figure and you have to say "this club is not well run" and that is down to Mr Bristol City himself Steve Lansdown. Before everyone goes off on one, I'm not for a minute suggesting I want him to abandon the club. But it's obvious to most that there has been a catalogue of errors and mis-judgement leading to the accumulation of such debt. Running before he can walk with no trainers sums it up for me. Wasted money on high earning players such as David James, paying off Lee Johnson after signing no improvement in Kilkenny (that's just a taste) Wasted money on Wages for the likes of Millen & staff Wasted money on Wages for the likes of Mcinnes & staff & paying compensation to St Johnstone for the benifit of having a clueless manager. Those wanting to throw in "it started with Gary Johnsons rubbish players" Can I just remind you that we were in a MUCH better position then, average crowds of approx 16000+ and apart from his last season, more than holding our own in the championship, which I believe started and gave SL inspiration to go for the stadium. I also believe from what GJ built, is the reason it attracted the likes of Coppell to come here in the first place. From then on, it's been downhill, shortcuts, cheap options, poor staff decisions, which has lead to poor attendances, poor season ticket sales and poor results. Even SL IMO lost a bit of interest, which is the reason he took a back seat. The MAIN source of the problem we have now, is not replacing Gary Johnson (those were the days!) with a better manager to PROGRESS (after the Coppell farcical) Sorry Steve, I have been and still am a massive supporter of what you have TRIED to do for this club, but it's your mess, the reason our club is in this situation, it's down to you to sort it out.
Turnover fell compared to last year. Staff costs rose from £15.9m to £18.7m!!! Also these are figures to 31/5/12, so before Baldock, Davies etc Where would we be without SL??
It's a shame that the Club has to cause this problem and frustration amongst it's fans. No fan should ever see their team suffer but Boards and managers need to be smarter when it comes to the Financial side of things. We're lucky we have the Allams who are businessmen, and know to keep positive with money and spend wisely. Obviously because of stupid spending (I take it) the losses have increased year by year, and it should have been sorted out when they realised it was increasing at quite a significant rate.
Everything was fine till that Jug eared bastard Windarse popped up at Wembley. All sorts have been signed since then. Peter Twenty Stuyvesant. David James ... USED to play for England. USED to mind. Got some bloke called Anderson, might be his first name, maybe not, nobody knows. Then there is Joanne Morris, keeps fans updated with tweeting. Millions spent on forwards who spend so much time on the bench they should take up carpentry...
But also before we made changes to the admin and club staff plus releasing players on big contracts already. It goes to the end of May. How do we know that Baldock Davies etc on more than the ones counted for in the previous year? We only presume on here but we don't know the outright facts. You never know come next year the annual wages might have dropped? We are basing facts on the previous year not this one. This could be the indication as to why they made the changes. You would also have payouts of long contracts for Nicky Hunt and Damion Stewart and so forth in the previous years balance.
