I have to say this boy is an unbelivible talent , just scored again for the toon against chelsea with an absolute peach of a goal, the keeper had no chance, he drifted into space yet again took one touch and buried a half volley into the top corner!!

Do you think this is the flukiest signing of the season ?? surely Pardew got lucky here though he did pay a fair price for him i guess.

Great management or great lucky dip that paid off, watching this boy score for fun in the prem it looks like the big teams have missed out on a bargin!!

Newcastle who i dont actually rate even though they are 4/5th are playing some good football, i said they were poor earlier in the season but they are proving me wrong fair play to them.

Still think they lucked out with te signing of Ba and Cisse though well done to them just the same .

    Thoughts ??

    Nothing lucky about it (IMHO)

The guy had a very good pedigree. Scored a lot, a LOT, of goals regularly in Germany...where frankly the general standard is better (admittedly our top 5 teams are a match for anyone in Europe).
I guess he came here to use Newcastle as a launch pad for a BIG money move to one of the elite clubs and Newcastle must be on the next rung down from the elite clubs in terms of wages (huge crowds, Andy Carroll money).

We certainly couldn't have afforded him.

Im not talking about the player but the signing of him really, im sure if he had a great track record in Germany he would have been on the radar of a few of the really big teams in Europe, going to Newcastle in January was a master stroke by somebody thats for sure!

Cisse is definatly destined for bigger things from what ive seen and its a hell of a signing by Newcastle, surely they didnt know he would be as good as 12 goals in 12 games though?

Obviously it's going as well as I imagine anyone expected with the average at 1 a game so far for Newcastle.

Just saying they knew they were getting quality, check out career stats here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papiss_Cissé
Averages 1 in 2. Won an award the season before Newcastle signed him for "most efficient striker".
Why the big boys never came in for him I don't know...but they probably will this summer :)

We have got £20m but i dont think thats enough!! the way mike ashley ripped off Liverpool with andy carroll expect him to sell cisse for at least the same money. If Liverpool make a bid expect cisse to be the first £100m pound player... <laugh>

Go on king kenny go and get him !! ;)

    "Averages 1 in 2".

Which just goes to show how good Brian Clough was, with virtually a 1 in 1 strike rate.

I know it's difficult to compare players from different generations, and I'm not really, but Cisse has got a long way to go to catch Cloughie.

Newcastle's signings, I think, are all the result of excellent scouting by Graham Carr. He's responsible for Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Cisse, and (not sure on this one) Cisse too. If we're signing anyone, it should be that scout!

BBC say his second goal tonight is goal of the season, simply stunning.

Then it will have to be the ultimate package. £20 mil + Leroy + Cyril.

Yeah goal of the season for me anyway.

Brian cloughs goals record was just immense fair play, i read his book years ago and was astounded by how good he was, if he had been playing today he would have been one of the best, shame injury curbed his career as a player, much like Brenden ;)

Carr the scout is the father of that weird chap on the TV ,the chatty man . I can see why he spent so much time out of the house watching football/players now! <laugh>

I won't turn this into a Brian Clough appreciation thread, but if you haven't seen "The Damned United",I would urge everyone to see it.

It's on U Tube,in about 9 parts. Michael Sheen is awesome as Clough.
