DJIBRIL CISSE IS READY TO RUIN THE PARTY Djibril Cisse believes Rangers can grab the point they need to avoid relegation Tuesday May 8,2012 By Simon Yeend DJIBRIL CISSE and Samir Nasri are great friends who will become fierce rivals this Sunday as Queens Park Rangers travel to Manchester City hell-bent on spoiling the title party. Cisse believes Rangers can grab the point they need to avoid relegation and if that denies City the Premier League title then so be it. Striker Cisse ensured QPR have safety in their own hands with his late winner on Sunday against Stoke. Bolton must win at Stoke on the final day to stand any chance of staying up, but Cisse wants QPR to ensure their own safety by not losing to City. âItâs not finished but itâs in our hands,â said Cisse. âWe have to finish the job at City. It will be difficult, but we took a good step by beating Stoke. âWe are still going to have to get something for safety, but itâs a tricky one. We are going to go there and grab something.â QPR have the worst away record in the division, having taken only 11 points on their travels, and have suffered eight defeats in their last nine games. City have been magnificent and unbeaten at home, with 17 wins and one draw. We have to finish the job at City. It will be difficult, but we took a good step by beating Stoke Djibril Cisse It should be a mismatch but Cisse is confident and his friendship with fellow Frenchman Nasri â they even have family holidays together â will also be forgotten. âWe are capable of getting a point,â he said. âItâs 11 versus 11. They have two arms, two legs, just like us, so we are going to try to compete. âThey may be nervous but this is not our problem. Our problem is to stay up. I am really close with Samir, so I hope not to take the title from him but, if I have to do it, I have to do it.â There is also the added spice of QPR boss Mark Hughes returning to the club that sacked him in December 2009.
That would be the end to end all seasons.I just hope you can do it.City are not invincible but you mustn't sit back and rely on Stoke to do the business.Look what happened Sunday.Good Luck.
Park the bus!! 11 men behind the ball and just keep kicking it off the pitch and wasting time Then I still think we'll lose 3-0! Come on STOKE!!!!!
If Cisse scores the goal that gets us a point he would really become an all-time legend, let's face it we haven't had a prolific hitman for yonks...
Our players, being the professionals they are, will approach this game believing they are more than capable of getting the result we need. They will not go there feeling beaten before they kick a ball. The statistics may say that the likelihood of us getting that result are remote, but at the end of the day there are 3 pts up for grabs, and if out team want it badly enough they can get at least one. No point in turning up whipped.
Dead right! There have been enough surprises this season to know that Nothing is a foregone conclusion. City will be under more pressure than us, there is no reason why we can't get something with max effort, organisation, and luck!
The longer we can frustrate them, the more their fans will be getting on their backs. And the game will open up for Cisse Mackie and Zamora running their back line ragged. I'm expecting that our survival will rely on Stoke, but it's still a funny old game.....
The script: Cisse scores from a sublime Taarabt through ball on 19 minutes As QPR try to defend their lead Cisse is sent off for a late challenge on Nasri after 35 minutes QPR's 10 men battle valiantly until just before the break when Kompany climbs above Ferdinand to score from their 15th corner of the half City go on to romp the 2nd half 4-1 Meanwhile Bolton have been leading 1-0 since the first 10 minutes We are in the last minute of 5 minutes stoppage time; a throw in on the left is lofted into the box; ex-QPR man Peter Crouch rises above the Bolton defence... Read the thrilling climax in next weeks Roy of the Rovers.
I can't really see us getting anything but, if we're going to lose, we might as well give it our best. Goal difference is unlikely to be a factor considering we have a 9 goal lead. Keep it tight for the first 15 (we normally take that long to get going) and then see what they're made of - if City can get twitchy with a 5 point lead in February then they're bound to be terrified on Sunday.
After next sunday it reads Manchester City was the best home team in the english premier league with 17 wins 1 draw and 1 defeat..........
He may well have ruined the party getting sent off twice and not being there for the 7 games when we really needed him. I'm chuffed to bits that he scored against Stoke but didn't join in with the chanting of his name and wasn't particularly impressed with him coming back onto the pitch at the end of the match at least 5 minutes after everybody else had started their lap of honour. Bit of bathing in glory that he hasn't warranted although I would be the first to concede that without his last gasp goal against Stoke the season could already be over. Should he be responsible for a decent result at Citeh and thus secure our place in the Premiership I will feel a lot more hospitable towards him but until then I can't help but think "what if?" regarding the games he missed. If we are there next season and he is too then slate clean and I'll be happy for him to achieve legend status!
A touch harsh I reckon Grove. You can blame him for the two games that he left us with 10 men (one which we probably would have won and the other we would have probably lost). The seven games he was suspended gave ample opportunity for someone to come in and give it a go/score goals but the simple fact is that our other strikers haven't really performed (except HH earlier in the season). He's got to be net positive on points gained/lost now and even if you were to give him a strike ratio of 5 in 14 (allowing for games missed but not adding on his replacement's goals) then that's still much better than our myriad of strikers have produced. I agree he doesn't deserve hero status yet but he may have already scored the goal that keeps us up [fingers crossed].
Agree with the first part and the last. We have to protect that goal difference which could be closed with big wins for the wrong teams. We certainly can't afford an avalanche. Even if we manage to hold them out, I can't see us getting three men into their half. If we're on for a point, we can't expect anything better than a negative game with just the one 'striker' at most up top. Having said that, Chelsea showed what can be achieved with the parked bus approach at a massive club away from home. Taarabt to do a Ramires? Cisse a Torres in the dying minutes? Oh for such an outcome!!!
....and Gary Neville to make that noise again!!!! GD only comes into it if we draw and Bolton win (by 9 goals). Seriously though, I can't see that parking the bus will work and never like the tactic. They'll end up camped in our half with their two defensive midfielders mopping up every clearance that doesn't get picked up by their defence on the half way line. We have improved defensively and there is a definite commitment by the back line in keeping everything out but we do still give away chances. The thought of sitting near the penalty spot waiting for Nasri, Silva, Aguero and Tevez to craft a way through for an entire 90 minutes just sounds like a thrashing waiting to happen. They have players that can shoot from distance too. Once a goal goes in then we'd have gifted Man City the ascendancy and be set up all wrong to try to rescue a point anyway. Frustrate for a bit and then expand as they get more nervous. We have much more chance of a draw if we could somehow sneak a 1 goal lead.
