"We may not be viewed as a big Club in terms of titles and trophies, but in terms of organisation, structure and ambition, trust me, we're going to be a very big Club. The potential here is massive." http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/AsiaTour/0,,10373~2854766,00.html
I like the quote, I just think all these interviews we always get now, the responses are becoming a little too canned. As emphasised the other day when nearly every player in the squad who is on twitter, gave virtually the same response to there welcome at the airport. I know clubs try and advise their players on what to say, mainly as most are too thick to think for themselves, but let's try and hear something different.
"Cisse also spoke glowingly about his relationship with QPR owner Tony Fernandes, commenting: "I don't normally have very close, friendly relationships with owners of Clubs, maybe only once before with the President of Panathinaikos, but it is different here. "Tony is really approachable. If you need him, he is always there for you. If you need help or guidance, he is always available with some sound advice. "You want to do well for people like him; to give your everything for them." This says a huge amount for Fernandes the motivator. He really is a big character, and at the moment, I just can't fault the guy. Most managers would kill to have a chairman like that.
I think we are a big club (not a small one and not a massive one) but big in terms of overall size/money/history. over the years we have had some great times at QPR with 30K gates and playing in Europe, cup finals,England players. Some clubs have never had that. Always said when when TF/Amit/Mittals took over that we were heading for big things. Once the new stadium is built and we are an established Prem team with bigger gates and TF gets his global brand things will be a lot different. I will never forget the days with the buckets/Vauxhall motors but even then when we were in League One and crap, We had a fantastic support, something that these 'so called' big clubs would never have had if they had gone through what our club did. It's okay for, (say) a fulham fan or someone else to mock our present gates but would they ever achieve what we did when the chips were down? Never.
