Cisse accepted his part in the Johnny Evans spat and as a result he will miss the next 7 games coming back for the last 3 games of the season only. Fair play to him and appears a genuine apology to all concerned
Evans for his part has denied all charges.
Did Evans spit at Riviere when he went down for the not given pen? Plenty of people saying he did so it'll be interesting what the FA do.
We really are now down to the bones in our squad so looks like a Perez/Riviere partnership for the rest of the season.

Perez scores more when Cisse's not in the team. Only time that Cisse has scored and anyone else has was against Everton. Colback, Perez and Ameobi have all achieved that feat at least twice.

In the long term this might not be a bad thing. We know Cisse can score goals, though we also know he is far from as consistent as he was when he first arrived. Riviere has looked absolutely hopeless since he arrived, but this way both he and Perez should get a good run of games. Perez has already proved his potential for me and this gives Riviere the chance to prove (or not) his too. We have nothing to lose. I can't see us being dragged into a serious relegation scrap now, and a good end to the season would only paper over cracks. Let's use the rest of the season to build for the future - or at least find out the quality of some of our fringe players.

As for Cisse - it was a disgusting thing to do, but fair play to him for coming out and both admitting it and apologising. Too many players in his situation try and put forward excuses instead of holding their hands up. He fully deserves the suspension, and should also receive the maximum possible fine from the club. After that he should be free to move on and forget about it, provided there is no repeat.

Spitting on your opponent is possibly the worst offence you can carry out.Hats off to Cisse for coming out quickly and apologising as for Evans reaction typical Man U.

I suppose he could have said he had a medical condition and he was unable to prevent the spit coming from his mouth and travelling three feet , it had nothing to do with the fact that over a million people saw the video evidence , just for the record I believe that this is worse than a mistimed tackle

Fair enough for me. i didn't think he'd spat at him but he has admitted it. No excuses, cowardly and disgusting. I can understand him kicking out and reacting badly to thinking he has been spat on, but now it has come to light Cisse did do it on purpose, its just plain wrong. By all means level him if he spits on you, but don't spit back.

I must admit I'm surprised, I genuinely thought Cisse had been saying something like "you spat at me, like this..." <ptooie> ".....see?".

Ah, well. For me, it just means 4-5-1 as often as we can, with Colback, Abeid and Sissoko in the middle and whoever's fit on the wings. I'd never bother with Riviere, he's clearly just crap. Subs bench. Perez up top for the rest of the season.

Even if Evans didn't intend to spit at Cisse, surely he'd have the common sense to look at the footage and think he wasn't going to get away with it.

He's thick as ****, I hope he's playing for another team next season and not just because of this.

Good - spitting is a disgusting habit and both deserve a ban although Evans trying to deny it is all kinds of crazy. Its on every news site and social media platform around the world and only Scholes, Van Gaal and Evans himself think he is innocent.

Why is it fair play to Cisse for admitting his guilt? He has let everyone down big time with his immature petulance.
Just because he has said sorry does not turn this idiot into a choirboy!
This is not his first ban for unbecoming conduct, do for all his remorse he has learned nothing.
He will get no credit from me, even after all the community work he has promised to do. The guy is paid to play football as a professional and ought to bloody act like one.

Cisse should have just punched Evans in the head...more satisfying and a shorter ban. How stupid is that?

Hmm, the concept of 'common sense' .... no, no, sorry, I fail to see the connection with Jonny Evans :emoticon-0105-wink:

I've not seen the footage, nor entirely sure the order of events, but if he came out and denied it before realising the footage gives a damning account of his behaviour, he can only do one of two things, both of which make him look totally stupid ... 1) he suddenly does a u-turn and says actually do you know what, I did do after all, or b) he continues to deny it because it is way too embarrassing to contradict his previous statement and then gets banned anyway because the whole world can see he is guilty.

However I can see how this pans out. No ban for Evans as he plays for Manure.

I take your point Geordie Lass, but coming out and apologising is better than denying it when the world can see you're guilty.

Sorry, but admitting his guilt and apologising doesn't make the slightest bit difference to me, it simply doesn't wash away his misdemeanours.

He's become a liability that cannot be trusted on the pitch.

A three match ban for intentionally elbowing an opponent in the face is bad enough, but to follow it up with spitting like this just shows he's a petulant idiot, who doesn't deserve to be wearing our No. 9 Shirt.

To miss TEN games through suspension in one season is unforgivable.

I hope we can eventually get rid of him in the summer.

Worst case scenario for me, I am left defending the notion that Mufc are given special treatment after such blatant poor behaviour.

He won't get off with it, I am convinced of that.
