Of course it was a fluke, Cisse didn't mean to score he was trying to hoof it out of the ground to run the clock down a bit.

    hahaha ridiculous article.
Cisse had a strike at goal and it went in. I do think Crouch goal was better but he has had a shocker with that article.

I can't understand the argument that it was a fluke.... What else was he trying to do?! Bizarre.

Whether it was intended or not, whether you could call that a "fluke" or not is completely immaterial.

Any strike from unnatural distance and in some cases within sensible range could be called "hit and hope" because technique is instinctive. Anyone who has played football at any level knows everything you do on the pitch isn't wholly premeditated.

Peter Crouch did not know that the ball would end up exactly where it would, plus his was a hook shot – far simpler in technique than Cisse's goal.

The Papiss strike against Cech (one of the world's best keepers) seemed to defy logic and physics. The intention in his head has naff all to do with how the ball left his foot.
Ok, I'm an NUFC fan but that just makes me more proud our team are associated with that goal because regardless of who scored it, is was one of the most amazing footballing spectacles I'd seen in years. The best of the lot bar none...

Incredibly, incredibly bitter. Crouch's goal was brilliant but "I hope they don't go for the Cisse goal. That was a fluke," from a man in such a position to say something so childish is embarrassing.

Even if he'd left it at something like, "Cisse's goal was a beauty but I think even he'd struggle to do it again no matter how many times he tried. Our Crouchy [goes on to praise Crouch]"

I've been a fan of the way Stoke have been run, respected Pulis for getting a job done and being 'sensible' but this season I think I've fallen out of love with them. It seems from the top to the bottom there's a bitter streak.

I much prefer having an anti-social owner and a modest manager than a pair who spout nothing but sour grapes. <ok>

It wasnt a fluke at all but I actually thought his first goal was better. Second one was just a strike. First one had a bit more to it <ok>

Although I think it will a difficult choice as Crouch's was a special goal, his comments lack class.

I actually do agree to a small extent, in that I never like long range screamers as goals of the month/season. I much prefer a well worked goal. I know others disagree. But:

    a. if you do like long range efforts, you can't top Cisse's

    b. if you don't like long range efforts, Ben Arfa's goal again Bolton is much better than Crouch's

Totally agree about long range efforts if they're just hit sweetly from long way out and go in top corner, but Cisse's goal was totally different - I never seen a goal go in in that way, it effectively lobbed Cech on his line thanks to the incredible swerve. First goal was also a beaut but that one didn't surprise me, the second one is one you won't see a goal like it again.

Typical Stoke for you - Awful club with no respect for anyone else. The sooner they go back down to obscurity where they belong the better.

Just about anyone with an ounce of football sense who has seen it agrees that he meant it and the technique was superb. Crouch's goal was good..but it was a straightforward volley into the top corner. It always had a chance of hitting the target. Cisse's goal - The swerve on it defied belief and it had no right to end up where it did. Perfect technique.

It wasn't a fluke, he totally meant it, and you could see him hit it with the outside of his boot.

He probably didn't expect it to go in, and there's no way a player could really mean to place it so perfectly, but it was a genuine attempt with technique and not a fluke.

What is it about Stoke that attracts odious little toads to their management. Pulis, Coates
