Really didn't think you could beat them but credit where credit is due. That will hopefully give the team a bit of a moral boost and can go on to have a decent season
an excellent game, and a really strong team preformance. speciel mentions to beaver, LJ, joel grant and nikki bull, but the whole team was excellent. very happy about today, and it really shows that we have the potential to stay up in this league
Fully agree with Jose's comments above - all round solid backs to the wall team performance against a very strong team - would also include Lewis for a special mention - non-stop. It's amazing the difference one game can make.. before the match the conversation was about how many would we lose by. Crowd were fantastic - especially last 15 minutes and really got behind the team when Sheffield were putting the pressure on. Also picked up a rumour that Martin Rowlands will be signing for us next week... let's see.....
We were fantastic today, everyone put in a shift and worked so hard. It feels unfair to single out individuals but the spine of the team, Bull/Johnson/Lewis/Beavon, were magnificent. We've had some good performances over the past couple of years but I haven't felt this pleased of a result and performance in ages, especially given our recent form. Us lot in the stands were also excellent, everyone got behind the team and its not often a full away end is drowned out and silenced. Even the Frank Adams moaners were clapping along. And the obligatory inept referee didn't affect proceedings either. So now all we need to do is do that every week!
Sounds like the sort of atmosphere that we normally get at away games. Looks like a lot of people didn't bother to go if the away end was full, well perhaps a few will return for the nest game.
Just looked up Martin Rowlands, he is at QPR at the moment and is predomantly a midfielder who chips in with a few goals but has also played in other positions. I would have thought that we were more in need of a forward but he sounds like he is a quality player for this level, has had a lot of injuries in the past.
Martin Rowlands is a player I've always liked, and was very highly rated at one time. He'd do a great job for you guys... predominantly a central midfilder but has played on the right quite a lot.
What a cracking win! I listened to the commentary and by the sounds of it we were great! Utd put pressure on at the end which is kind of to be expected with 3m striker playing on 20k a week. It's an amazing result and could really be the kick start we need. I too can't believe the Utd manager's comments after listening in on the radio though, we had more than our fair share of chances so it's unfair to say they dominated. Slightly miffed at the attendance - I also agree that 5000 for a game like that is shocking - but I can't really moan as I was one of the people not there! But it's yet more evidence that the club's current promotional strategies are pretty dire. According to Wikipedia Martin Rowlands started with us - I don't remember him though. UP THE BLUES!!! Very happy today!
I was at the game, and while it was a brilliant performance, that was partly down to the quality of the opposition. I wouldn't say Danny Wilson's comments were unreasonable. The first half hour was very backs-to the-wall. Beaver was isolated for much of the first half, which is why he did such a good job. That said, Nikki Bull was well protected and only needed to make a couple of saves that were above regulation. Let's hope the win against one of the best sides in the division gives the team the confidence to be more positive against the bottom half clubs.
Had a great time at the game Saturday, fantastic performance from Wycombe, they really dug the 3 points out. I can honestly say Beavon's performance was one of the best I have seen in a blues shirt, for someone his size to lead the line like he did was outstanding, there center backs were big but he constantly threw himself into them and was basically a complete pain in the ar*e. His technical ability shone through again, if he starts to score goals regularly he'll be straight off to the Championship. The one negative from the game was Sandell's performance, he was truely awful, to the point me and my mate actually felt a bit sorry for him. His confidence seems to be shot to pieces, and is terrified of the ball.
That attendance is poor - surprising or not it shows what a mess Wycombe Wanderers' marketing department is in.
