This could be classed as a 6 pointer lose and we will be in serious trouble and it won't be easy against a Chesterfield side who are improving. They've have strung some decent results together in recent weeks although they were hammered by Charlton. Side wise for us, Devine in for Brown would be one. Marrow back in the side would be another but is he still at the club. Time to wing some corner's at Tommy Lee in the Chesterfield goal he is a bit dodgy on crosses, will we take advantage of it, who knows. A win is needed and badly only 4 of those since September 27 not good enough
The goalless draw between Preston and Chesterfield has to go down as one of the worst games ever played at Deepdale, just over 9000 witnessed this festival of ineptitude. Neither keeper made a save of note during the game, apparently the statistics show that there were two shots on target in the entire match. Do not remember either of them. Chesterfield did hit the bar late on but by then plenty of fans had already voted with their feet and were already in the bar. A first half which barely reached mediocrity had two efforts at goal both missed although Bowery's effort from distance was classy. There were rumours that Air Traffic control had diverted planes from the Preston area to avoid being hit by the ball. The first half was summed up by a wawayward pass by a visiting player tried to pass to a team mate 5 yards away, missed him by 10 yards and nearly decapitated a sleeping spectator. The second half wasn't much better although there were slightly more efforts on goal, Whittaker going close for the Spireites and Hume and Mayor going close for the home side. Deep into injury time a Trotman header rattled the bar for the visitors, the chorus of boos said it all, absolutely dreadful. They are at home again on Saturday think I'll take a book to read.
