http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...ondon-rivals-article746749.html#ixzz1PCFOqpMa Harry Redknapp is ready to slug it out with Arsene Wenger for Blackburnâs Chris Samba. Spurs boss Redknapp is keen to sign two central defenders with Premier League experience, and is interested in Samba. Arsenal manager Wenger has already had an £8million offer rejected by Blackburn for Samba, who is their skipper, and is set to return with an improved bid. Redknapp is ready to match their value and Samba has said he is interested in listening to offers, despite agreeing a new deal at Ewood Park earlier this year. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...t-exchange-for-Luka-Modric-article746743.html Didier Drogba has emerged as a potential pawn in Chelseaâs bid to land Luka Modric from Spurs. Tottenham chief Harry Redknapp has insisted the £30million-rated Croatia midfielder is not for sale, despite interest from the Blues and champions Manchester United. Modric himself, however, has pointedly not ruled out a move from White Hart Lane, talking of his desire for another taste of Champions League football after playing a major role in Spursâ European adventure last season. Drogba, meanwhile, had appeared to have been given a stay of execution on the back of the performances he gave at the end of the campaign as Fernando Torres failed to live up to the burden of expectations after his British-record £50m move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool, but the Ivorian could become part of any deal. Redknapp has never hidden his admiration for Drogba and has made it clear he would love to take him - if Chelsea were looking to let him go and finances allowed. Drogba became a favourite of incoming Blues boss Guus Hiddink during the Dutchman's caretaker spell in charge of the club in 2009 and was expected to stay in SW6, despite owner Roman Abramovichâs desire to build a team to service Torresâ style of play. Hiddink is due back from holiday tomorrow and the expectation is that - despite an ongoing compensation wrangle with the Turkish Football Federation - the 64-year-old will be announced as Carlo Ancelottiâs successor by the end of this week. Yet Modric appears to have been identified as the player Chelsea believe would best unlock Torresâ goalscoring instincts, and Drogba could be added to the mix as a temptation to produce a change of heart over Modric from Tottenham. Redknapp has promised that Spurs do not intend to let either Modric or Gareth Bale leave this summer, with the White Hart Lane boss arguing that his squad needs to be bolstered to get back into the top four, rather than weakened by deals that would signal the true ambitions of the club.
if we sell Modric it would prove to me we are not serious about being a top 4 club let alone winning the pl any time in the future.I would also stop supporting a club that,i have supported since around 1959.It would be hard but that's how strongly i feel about selling Modric,i'd rather see Bale go but i don't even want that to happen
If he wants to go then what do you expect the club to do?? No player is bigger than the club and i'd never want someone who doesn't want to be there playing in a Spurs shirt no matter how good they are. As for stop supporting the club, isn't that a bit drastic???
Drastic, yes but how do we get to win the Pl when evertime we get a good Player ,we then sell him. As for Modric,he said he's happy at Spurs so,we don't have to sell him, sorry ,but that's how i feel
I appreciate where you're coming from Totsfan. We get constant talk from 'Arry & Levy about building a team for the future, and then that 'dream' gets shattered when a top player gets sold. But it hasn't happened too much really - Berbatoss wanted out anyway and was causing disharmony in the dressing room, and we made a pretty tidy sum from that one. Carrick left, although on slightly better terms, but that didn't exactly have a detrimental affect on us in the grander scheme of things, and all this Modric talk is a load of lazy journo hacks trying to fill column space when there's nothing substantial to report on. If Modric does leave, then yes, I will be gutted as well, but players come and go - I'm not sure too many ManUre supporters said they'll stop supporting them when Ronaldo left? On the back of this though - the manager & player have both categorically said that no deal will be done, so until something does happen it's best not to worry about it
