Paul Parker criticises Rooney for his call for a Xmas break. Makes a very good point that it is the fans who create the football leagues...we enjoy Xmas football and therefore the teams must provide it. There seems to be a growing attitude from some players that football is sufficient unto itself and the fans are just lucky that they can watch. Football doesn't exist without the fans. Without football, the players might get a Xmas break from their factory jobs, but also might not if they provided essential services or work in a shop.

It's the same for all teams...not as if ManU, Chelsea etc play whilst Scunthorpe United are sunning themselves in the Canary Islands. It is noticeable that the big teams moan the most..despite having the ability to rotate players.

As none other than Robbie Savage said, To a footballer, every day is Christmas Day. There's nothing for them to moan about.

So narrow minded that view. There are too many matches in December. Check how many league games were played in each of August, Sept, Oct, Nov and then look at December!

I don't think there should be a break, however I do think they need to change the schedule.

Boxing Day Football has to stay and so does New Years Day Football. But the round of fixtures in between? That can go and be played at another time.

If Boxing Day and New Year's Day are on a Wednesday or Tuesday then having a game on the Saturday in between seems like a good idea but in years like this the games should either be played on the Monday (not necessarily the best idea) or arranged for another week.

We came into this busy period under severe pressure and struggling but have come out of it on top form and back on track

Our levels of fitness proved to be our strength over the Christmas period, some of the Chelsea squad looked distinctly out of sorts, and it is said that their training regime is less physical and more down to tactics and planning, most being natural athletes, too much physical stuff could create problems?

I hear that Brendan Rodgers is happy with his 7 points out of 9 Xmas points haul. Ours is 10 out of 12. So what did Liverpool do with that other game..? They drew at home with Arsenal 2-2. So that's 8 from 12. Not bad, but not great for a club that wants to achieve Champions League status again.
