I think the jury will be out a very long time on this one. Scored for fun at Birmingham in the first half of last season. Comes to City and could hardly hit a barn door with a bag of rice - with one or two exceptions. Either he was extremely lucky at B'ham or did not get the right kind of service at BCFC or he's actually crap! I think we should look elsewhere, even though I'll probably be proved totally wrong after he goes to another Championship club and bangs in 25 for the season.
Don't think he's a bad player at all, wasn't helped by spending time on the left wing for us though.. Service at Birmingham will have been better no doubt than ours was, think he's too similar a player to Stead and Taylor to make it worthwhile signing him.
The balance of the team is 2 players of the same type,we've got Steady and Taylor,Pitman and a replacement to compete with him,Wood is not a fox in the box,he is not what we need..
I don't think he was bad, some on here didn't like him at all. Maybe he is similar to Stead and Taylor, but Taylor was injured most of last season and just got injured again, Stead wont go a season without getting injured. He scored a bit for Birmingham, and I have no doubt he will score for others. Only 21 and have this horrible feeling that we could be looking at him like Man U look at Rossi and Forlan not comparing them in their ability. Just have this feeling about him. Jury's out for me on this one.
Yeah I know what you mean, 21 and has scored in the Europa league and played in a World Cup isn't bad pedigree at all. Think he could well go on to be a very good player, if Taylor doesn't stop getting injured would happily have Stead and Wood as the two target men.
If we are in the market for one striker then please don't let this be him! We need a pacey goal scorer which is pretty much the opposite of Wood from what we saw last season.
Wood is no more a target man than fly, hardly won a ball in all the games he played. And nothing 'stuck' on the floor either. Utterly utterly useless.
