    From the BBC...

Huddersfield Town have offered former Charlton boss Chris Powell their vacant manager's job.
BBC Radio Leeds understands contracts have been drawn up for the 44-year-old and his assistant Alex Dyer.
The Terriers have been without a manager since parting company with Mark Robins the day after their 4-0 opening day home defeat by Bournemouth.
They have since been under the caretaker charge of academy boss Mark Lillis.
Former England international Powell has been out of the game since being sacked as Addicks manager in March.
He guided the club to the League One title in his first full season in charge in 2011-12, having taken over from Phil Parkinson in January 2011.
They finished ninth in their first season back in the second tier but struggled last season and Powell was relieved of his duties with the club bottom of the Championship.
If he takes over at the John Smith's Stadium his first game will be the home match against Middlesbrough on Saturday, 13 September.

Piss poor Championship manager IMO, but I wish him all the best at Huddersfield anyway.

P.S: Alex Dyer must pinch himself every morning.

Good luck to him. Sadly I think he's been appointed to get the best out of what's at his disposal, and again won't be given money.

    Good luck to CP.

He'll get the defence shored up (Morrison on loan?) and they'll begin to pick up a few points. The football will not be pretty, but if I were an Udder, I'd feel confident of Championship survival.

    After this season, who knows...

All the best Sir Chris :)

Nick, I thought you said on (monday?) that he stank the place out in his interview?

Good luck to CP and I reckon he will do a good job with the hand he is dealt. Last season he had to cope with no investment in the squad last summer a pitch that harmed our chances of survival since we couldn't play the way he wanted and new owners who sold his talisman player out from under him. Yes as sky and the BBC remind us he was sacked when we were bottom of the league but they forget the games in hand which I believe we could have won as well under him as we did under Jose, neither of them bad managers.
The world has changed and we have a new coach in place and some new players I will continue to support CAFC but in the same way as I keep an eye out for Riga and Blackpool I will keep an eye out for Powell and Huddersfield both of whom we should show respect to when they return this season.

He has a decent team at his disposal, so it will be an interesting test for him. Rolling contracts seem to be the norm outside of the premiership too!

There were many people who told us that Powell would walk into a new job at the upper end of the Championship, or even the Premier League. Looking at Udders squad, and the chairman's declaration that money is tight up there, I think CP will struggle.

Whatever some people say, his brand of hoofball..sorry football has been put to shame by first Riga and then Peeters, and tactically he is very limited to say the least.

There are some absolutely frightening comments about Powell on the related thread on CL just now. Comments from grown men like "I love him" and "too upset to post about it"

    Get a grip, FFS.

He is a decent human being, did brilliantly to get us up to ninth and also to get us out of Div 1. But some of the football played under his stewardship was sterile and defensive. A lot of the time he was reactive rather than pro active. Good luck to him at Huddersfield, I hope he does well there.

But in the same light, some also said he wouldn't get a job in The Championship. This was his second concrete offer from the Championship since he left CAFC.

I watched the interview with Powell on the Huddersfield Town website today. What was interesting was that in terms of "Powell Bingo", it was a Full House. Alex Dyer is a great bloke who everyone will love. Powell is looking forward to building a relationship with the Udders fans. And....bizarrely....the most important attribute in the Championship is team camaraderie. Really ? What about skill, and ability ? Udders fans should rush out now and buy those neck braces...under CP they will play ugly hoofball.

That's Powells problem though wanting to be liked. You couldn't pick up a paper without reading nice guy Chris Powell. It also didn't help his judgment when you had grown men writing him love letters and fawning over him like a born again Princess Diana. He stuck with poor players for too long and looked after his mates at the clubs expense. I want him to do well but he won't win the fans around up there with a clean shirt and a leather cap.

As for camaraderie, that's the Italian boy innit?

But did he stick with them through choice? He didn't have much of an option.

We will never know. Jason Euelll and Alex Dyer never struck me as stand out sort of guys and yet they were on the payroll at CP's bidding. Let's not forget jimi bought CP over 50 players during his time at the club.
