    Hello Northenders

My employer is Chris Porters dad (you may have seen some of the white removal lorries knocking about with the Union Flag on them, Andrew Porter Removals). Anyway, I work for one of his engineering companies and bumped into him today. I was asking about Chris and he told me he's out of contract with Derby County at the end of this month, with no club to go to as yet.
He fell out of favour with Nigel Clough after a series of injuries limited him to just 20 odd games in his time at Pride Park and went down the pecking order. His dad told me that he has been fully fit (if not match fit) and just wants to play again.
I reckon this lad could be worth a punt. No transfer fee, 28 years old and proven at L1 level with Oldham and before that with Bury. He was the 3rd top scorer in the SPL in his time at Motherwell. Injuries, as I said, limited his appearances at Derby.
I suggested to his dad that he might want to try his luck with a phone call to PB, and the reply was that he has nothing to lose!
Anyway, watch this space, but don't hold your breath as I'm sure Mr Porter had more important issues to be pressing on with after speaking to me :)

Yes he did....I've not heard anything back from Mr Porter though as yet...out of contract as of today, might be keeping more lucrative options open!!
