Sad news to hear about his passing this morning. I´m sure many a Saints fans on this site enjoyed listening to his measured commentaries on TMS for many years as well as reading his excellent articles in the Times and Telegraph. whilst tending to those magnificent plants growing in the back garden. So that´s two cricketing greats in less than a week. Two very contrasting characters but both who earned a lot of respect! We´ll miss them both!! Lets see how this runs (groans) before it is merged with the off-topic moderators!!
I love test match special and the word-smiths on it, especially the old generation [Blofeld: 'and in the distance I can see a succulent red... bus!']. Cannot wait for the Ashes again, always fun to listen to and a great help when you are up at 2 am writing your thesis.
