IMO I think this is great appointment if it comes true, I wanted MK Dons manager but am still very happy. I do believe that the whole Grant Holt issue will be resolved by the new manager with grant signing a new contract. This way introducing the manager and our club hero to the fans a great bit of PR by the club. OTBC
i like robinson - will be a great manager, probably a bit early for him at this time as for holt, the interesting thing is colin calderwood is hughton's assistant... they have history as we all know! i doubt holt will stay now
I agree with Supers - Holty and Calderwood didn't exactly see eye to eye at the Florists when they were there so CC's appointment as Hughton's no2 may be the catalyst to Holty leaving.
yep, still work to be done. doubt we'll hear anything until tomorrow or maybe even friday. michael foulger did say he hoped for an announcement within 48 hours
Surely the worst part is over with though? The compensation talks? No doubt it'lls till take a couple of days though but are we over the biggest obstacle?
we are helped because things at the brum are not great. things could be about to collapse - hughton knows he's better off out of it
I believe Birmingham sources reported CH was eager to speak to us. Thats a positive. Money shouldn't be a stumbling block. Lets cross everything. This is all very exciting. I suppose he might look to bring in a couple from Brum. Chris Burke had a very successful season scooping all their awards and banged in a few goals as well. Of course we were linked with Curtis Davies but I don't know what the score is with Ward being given another contract. Don't think there are too many others who are up to Prem standard.
if we want anyone from brum it should be nathan redmond. not sure we could afford him but he's some talent!
Don't know too much about him. I saw him in the play offs and noticed he was a wide player and he's under 21 so could we poach him anyway?
he's just a kid, 18 i think. pacy with an eye for goal, both footed (prefers right peg), plays left or right wing, cuts inside often. may well end up being a striker or play just off the forwards. reminds me of ashley young when he was at watford. has been in the england under 21 setup already though not sure if he's played for them yet. would cost an arm and a leg... or £5m+ i imagine.
Some big clubs tracking Redmond! Anyway, SSN just shown permission 'reluctantly' granted to talk to Hughton after he expressed an interest in holding talks.
There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding about Ward (and Fox and Jackson) being "given another contract". As I understand it, the club exercised a one year extension clause in their existing contracts. The three of them haven't signed new contracts at all, so we shouldn't read too much into it in terms of their commitment to staying at Norwich. Having them contracted for the next three years, rather than just two, presumably makes a difference to how much another club coming in for them would have to pay as well as giving a message to them that the club would like them to stay.
possibly in total, eventually, after add-ons, but that would take in years of payments. i think an offer straight up of £5m would get him, especially with birmingham's financial predicament. redmond has gone on record to state his admiration for hughton too, so we may have cards to play with
Yeah Nathan Redmond would be great player, didn't realise he was that young, think he is the only player I have wanted us to buy who is younger than me. To be honest I think it would be a big figure 5-6 mill, but from what I have seen from Birmingham money seems more attractive than players.
agreed! I'm starting to get a little nervous at all these players younger than me are earning at least a couple of grand a week!
