Congrats to our Chris on his appointment as Wales boss. I'm sure he's very proud despite the painful circumstances concerning his old friend Gary Speed. I hope he doesn't get a rough ride from the existing coaching staff who seem a bit resentful of an outsider coming in. Coleman always came across as a decent, stright-talking bloke, so I hope he soon wins people inside the Wales camp over. Best of luck, Cookie.

Agreed, I've always had a lot of time for Coleman. He's had an interesting management career so far, lets hope he can do the business for Wales.

I hope he does well. His media interview earlier today was very touching. It's not a job anyone would want really considering the circumstances.

Probably the best man for the job, if one considers only people of Welsh descent. I wish him well.

I thought the assistant manager should have continued on but I wish Cookie all the best in the job. I think he will do well for them, it must be a very tough job to take on.

    Yes, good luck to him.

Cookie was always a better player than a manager though.

Indeed good for him and best wishes - so long as he doesn't come looking for Kit S.

Before Speed was appointed I was rooting for Cookie to get the job but now I'm not so sure he has what it takes to succeed there. I was in favor of Speed's assistant taking over, why change it if it isn't broken?

I read today that Coleman is dropping hints that he might like to bring Symons in as part of his backroom team. Hmmmm.

Do you know something I don't, Cottagecravens? I don't understand the background to this.

During his latter fulham managerial days he formed quit a drinking club up in Reigate, where he lived. During his reign there were also discussions of a problem with the senior plAyers and boozing

Him and Bullard 'apparently' were on the sauce together frequently in the hotels before and after games. The senior player you're referring to is Steed Malbranque. Coleman 'allegedly' had an affair with his wife.

Thanks CC and Bandy. Sometimes I think I lead a very sheltered life: I had no idea about any of that.

It was also apparently the reason Steed refused to sign a new contract..

Exactly. Not such a good bloke eh. Plus we all know he was half cut on night of accident driving from MAF gaff. Some of you may not believe this but that's the way it is.

i heard the problem with malbranque was infact coleman frequently mocked malbranque about his manhood, even after malbranque's alleged surgery in that department. this could just be a golden lion rumour

It was more than a rumor re : his drinking exploits with Bullard, the biggest item was his
alleged encouragement of the younger players boozing
In my opinion we were well rid of,if any of the afoermentioned is true,as a player a good one
but as a manager and person an a....e
