Am I being a thick white man ,but isn't using the term choc ice in context used in Rio Ferdinands twitter racist as it implies that if a Black man behaves as a white man there is something wrong with him ? Wonder if Rio will be taken to court ,I hate racism but both ways
Choc ice means the same as calling a black man an oreo (black on outside, white on inside). Rio seemed to think it meant fake generally or he pretended to think so. He removed it quickly, because it is considered very offensive.
That's funny, I always thought a choc ice was ice cream covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Is this the longest running racism-saga-where-no-actual-racism-has-taken-place ever?
If Rio thinks choc ice means fake...a fake what? A brick?...can't think of anything else it resembles.
He clearly means a fake black man. It's a very stupid comment, and a dangerous attitude. If black kids are afraid of being seen as 'choc ices' if they work hard at school and get a respectable job out of it then that's not going to help anyone.
A lot of people have mixed heritage. Are they supposed to deny some of their family and align themselves with only the one people can see. I remember Tiger Woods refusing to call himself black because he had a very mixed background, including Asian and European, and wouldn't deny any of them.
To my mind what his friend and himself are inferring is because Cole is coloured he should have backed Anton come what , again to me that is racist too ,never mind fact or your view but back your colour sorry but to you PC brigade out there I feel the racist card seems only available to the coloured community ,I for one hate racism of ALL kind
Cole had to say what he believed, not what everyone thought he should say because he is black. Rio should have known better.
just a thought but if a choc ice does mean "black man who acts as if he is white " what word or item would you use to describe a white man acting like a black man ? i seem to see lots of them walking around thinking there black and from the bronx lol
