Lack of quality in the final third... definitely Lack of luck at the moment.. Panicky defence and to much man marking. Cambiasso quality player Mahrez ditto But all in all yet again we showed desire. That's all we ask. And we. Should stick with NP!! Keep on keeping the faith!!
We also play attractive football - and are capable of scoring at times. If we just clear our lines defensively and stop passing the ball to the opposition we will be fine. We are in a blip - just need to show some support
Our DEF is just so not a prem DEF & at the risk of saying I told you so... at the start of the season I told you so. We´ll go down if something doesn´t change. Either our approach, formation, DEF (playing staff) or 2 or 3´of the forementioned.
Spot on about the defence. We have no pace in the central two. I don't think I've ever seen a player who looks less comfortable on the ball than Morgan, and his distribution is woeful. I lost count of the number of times he put Konchesky and our midfield in trouble last night with passes when they had two men waiting to bear down on them. It was all so predictable. In fact we looked to be in more trouble when Morgan had the ball than when Sterling or Lallana had it. De Laet had a pretty good night considering who he was marking. He didn't get a great deal of help either from Vardy or Mahrez, but at least the ref came to his rescue at times. We looked short on confidence in the first half (hardly surprising) and didn't start to pressurise Liverpool until we went behind. Schlupp, James and Cambiasso turned in good performances, Mahrez improved after a dire first half where he continually lost possession, but Vardy looked very low on confidence throughout, typified by his early decision to shoot rather than take a one on one against Kolo Toure. I don't think last night's result was disastrous for us. We shouldn't really be looking to expose ourselves too much against these higher table teams. We can't compete with them on quality. That's why I was hoping we might play 2 holding midfielders to block up the hole in front of the defence, concentrate on trying to keep a clean sheet and maybe get a breakaway goal using our pacey players or something from a set piece. We should then open up and be more aggressive and attack minded against the likes of QPR, Burnley, WBA and the others around the bottom.
It was an alright performance, that's all we ask for. I can understand Pearson's grievances as any side is going to struggle against Liverpool with 10 men, and we actually looked better after going down to 10! Morgan had such a disastrous performance that his leaving the pitch actually helped matters (did anyone else find it hilarious watching him wandering around the stadium trying to get a seat? Got to enjoy something about the game I suppose!). Villa away next, and if we attack as well as we did yesterday, we've got a chance, but our defence really needs a shake-up. It didn't look that impressive in the Championship, and we seem to make at least one error every game that leads to a goal. I would actually consider 5 at the back if we had the personnel- Moore's going to have to play alongside Wasilewski, as we have no other options. At least one quality defender is needed in January. Feel sorry for Ulloa to not get his goal, although there's no denying it was an OG.
