Also if I am at the match I will write my report after the match giving my view on the players, join in the chat and have fun. Team News Bad news for Gillingham is that a number of players have been hit by Illness, the players hit by the illness are unnamed but Aaron Millbank who has just been offered a third year scholarship will be traveling with the squad who impressed mid week in the development squads 3-1 win against Dag & Red where he covered at Right back even though he is actually a striker. Past meetings Gillingham haven't won any of their last 3 games against Chesterfield and you have to go back 2009 for a win which was in the promotion season, but we last played at Chesterfield in 2011 which was the last game of the season where we needed to win to finish in the play offs and we lost and that da Chesterfield won the league title. 06 Dec 2008 Gillingham v Chesterfield W 2-1 League Two 18 Apr 2009 Chesterfield v Gillingham W 0-1 League Two 25 Jan 2011 Gillingham v Chesterfield L 0-2 League Two 07 May 2011 Chesterfield v Gillingham L 3-1 League Two 01 Sep 2012 Gillingham v Chesterfield D 1-1 League Two Chesterfield are not as good as they used to be so this should be a time to win again as we do have an overall good record with 28 wins, 15 draws and 20 defeats so we have a better record against them than they have against us. Chesterfield have on and off form at the moment with only 3 wins in their last 10 so Gillingham should be aiming for a 11th away win of the season. Current league table As of 21.02.13 Gillingham sit top of League 2 after 32 games with 62 points with Port Vale second on 60 points after playing the same amount of games. Chesterfield sit 12th after 32 games with 43 points. HOADIEâS View on this match I think with Chesterfield's form and how good we are away from home we should win this but I do know that it is a hard place to go as they are good at home. The score line and scorers I believe that we will win this and it will be Chesterfield 0-2 Gillingham with Burton and Williams getting the goals. I am not 100% about the scorers due to players potentially being ill.
It is hard to guess the team with players potentially ill and with Aaron Millbank going after showing he was versatile is it a striker who is ill or is it a player in another position I don't know but I will take a wild guess to the team. Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Williams Lee Weston Burton McDonald (Hopefully not McDonald Ill but I have a horrible feeling it is) This is the news about Aaron Millbank traveling, I first heard about it on KMFM http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2013/february/21/aaron_millbank.aspx
I think because of the fact that we also have a game Tuesday, Martin Allen will rotate the starting eleven. However I only think he'll rotate in the midfield and attack. This morning I watched the highlights of the gills development game on the gills player, I thought Bradley Dack took his goals fantastically well and I hope he gets some minutes on the pitch within these next two matches. The starting eleven I'd play tomorrow would be, Nelson, Fish, Barrett, Legge, Martin, Frampton, Robinson, Williams, Whelpdale, McDonald, Burton. Personally I'd take a point tomorrow but I think we'll win 1 0, Cody McDonald to score, thoughts??
Welcome to not606, nice to see another new member. I think that Dack should start but I don't think he will, I think he should be playing attacking midfield or right midfield but I feel in attacking midfield he would be a great player. If I was picking the team and everyone was fit so this is without illness this would be the team I would play tomorrow. Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Frampton Dack Robinson Williams McDonald Burton Subs Forecast Davies Richardson Whelpdale Lee Weston Kedwell I see how with a fully fit team it is tough to leave people out as that would be my team as I feel that Lee is starting to perform better but I would not want him to burn out and Whelpdale ain't been at his best in the last few games but hopefully he will hit good form soon as usually when he does he goes on a good run for a number of games.
Thanks mate, thought I'd join after seeing the link you posted on twitter. I'd be more than happy to see Bradley Dack start tomorrow, he come on last week at right back and did his job very well! It is difficult to name an XI for this game as we don't know who is ill. I agree about Whelps not been brilliant recently but I think he'll play as he sounds better away from home. My subs would be: Forecast, Davies, Gregory, Richardson, Weston, Kedwell, Lee. What are your thoughts on Birchall, there is a part of me that wants him to have more game time but there is another part of me that thinks that he just won't score.
That's nice to see that my sharing on Twitter does work as this is a great board, we have one of the most active boards in the lower leagues and also it is the best board where we make sure we talk purely football, any other stuff goes in the off topic area which is called the Gordon Road Stand - the place for off topic debate. With Birchall it is annoying as I really want him to be successful and you can say that he ain't had much of a chance but he has had near 10 appearances either starting or as a sub and he ain't got a goal, really by now he should have a league goal because there has been many chances which he should have taken. I think that it seems like it ain't going to work out for him sadly but I would like him to get a goal or two before it is too late as I am sure he does have it in him but I think the injury has damaged him and his confidence.
According to the Sheffield Star, Cook is looking to start with two up top for Chesterfield. According to some of my colleague, like us, Chesterfield lack proper width so it could become congested in the middle of the park
To be injured for so long probably did dent his confidence which is a shame. I thought when we signed him from Dover he'd be a nippy little forward who would score 10 + a season. I personally think that the only two strikers we have that are good enough for potentially league one football next season are Cody McDonald and Deon Burton. Not sure about Keds.
I think Kedwell is good enough but we need to have a goal scorer next to him like Cody McDonald. Deon Burton and Kedwell are similar.
That is not good news really because that could mean the game becomes scrappy, it would be a good game for us to start with Williams and Weston or Williams and Dack as I think that would work.
I'd play Kedwell ahead of Birchall but not ahead of Burton. Don't think we'll bring anyone in unless Coventry recall Cody and I don't think we need to. I do however feel we will need to rotate them three, maybe play Keds Tuesday if he is fit.
ACS - I can't believe you just did that I know your game putting yourself about for some Hoadie rep power I see your title is still serving you well fella rep.
Time for the match only the one change with Frampton out the 18 Callum Davies coming in on the bench and Gregory taking his place in the starting 11 in holding midfield.
Matt Fish injured (bad news) he is going off and Deon Burton is on for him that means that Chris Whelpdale goes to the back with Weston going back into midfield so Burton can join McDonald upfront.
If he can't play Tuesday who do we play there, will we go with Lee or Whelpdale, but weird thing is I am sure I heard that we loaned Jack Evans out to Dartford even though I am sure we said we had released him not transfer listed him.
