Bristol City provide the final opponents of the 2012/13 pre-season as the Cherries will welcome back goalscoring hero Brett Pitman back to the south coast. Under manager Derek McInnes, City pulled themselves away from the Championship relegation zone last season and will be looking for a challenge this term. Like Bournemouth they start their competitive season next Tuesday in the Capital One Cup, making Saturday the final chance for fine tuning before the season starts. They are showing good form in pre-season, and after wins north of the border at Kilmarnock and Dunfermline, they beat local rivals Bristol Rovers 3-0 last Saturday in the Louis Carey testimonial in front of a crowd of nearly 9,000. Bournemouth will be without striking quartet Josh McQuoid, Steve Fletcher, Frank Demouge and Charlie Sheringham, while in the middle of the park, Wes Fogden and Mark Molesley are also ruled out due to injury.
Funny thing, the cherries fans I work with didn't like him, as if he was too big for his boots and cocky, so we'll see if he gets a warm welcome.
Edwards and Anderson on for Adomah and Elliot....Pearson on for Woolford....Bryan and Foster come on for M Wilson and Cunningham.
We have lost one game drew another, and won 4. Conceded 5 goals and scored 12. All in 6 games. All without this commanding CB, CM and ST Just waiting for all the bollocks saying we have only played against rubbish.
That is a friendly that we would have lost last year and the year before. Even without our strongest team we have beaten a more than average League One side. Well done lads.
A new season a fresh start, gr8 preparations......... The lads are doing their bit so lets do ours, starting with and what would be fantastic is to get a respectable crowd down the gate on tuesday night for Gills game......... Rovers.....lol...... Otib

View of a fan, there today taken from OTIB board Just back to the hotel Decent run out for the lads Have to say I've not seen them this fit for seasons In very warm weather then dominated 90% of the match Positives Bolaise looks better than ever Heatin is defo No1 keeper Cunningham is superb James Wilson**Do we really need a centre half? Strong and demanding Negatives Kiillkenny turns away from goal ever time he got the ball Marv. Not yet match fit Pitman. Lazy but knows where the goal is Personally think if we get the striker and ball winning midfielder we are going shock a lot if teams this year
I wouldn't be too impressed with today's game. Yes we beat Bournemouth away, decent result. However, I was sat with my brothe-in-law (Bournemouth fan) and he said that excluding the keeper, Bournemouth's starting lineup had just 5 senior players and 5 youth teamers. Of the 5 senior players, none will start the first game v Pompey, and only 2 or 3 are likely to make the bench. They were all brought off by 60mins and they finished with 10 youth teamers, with an average age of 18. I know, you can only beat what was put in front of you, but this was Bournemouth's 3rd team with a couple of the second team.
Cherries 1 Cardiff 2 Cherries: Flahavan (c); Case, Cook, Barrett, Daniels (Makoni 89); Wakefield (Gilkes 45), Gregory, Arter, McDermott (Jamal 65); Grabban (Moth 61), Stockley (Cargill 89) Cherries 0 City 2 Cherries: Flahavan (c), Case, Cargill, Cook, Meades (Strugnell 60), Arter (Wakefield h/t), Gregory (Jamal 68), O'Kane (Makoni 68), McDermott, Grabban (Gilkes h/t), Stockley (Chiedozie 60). If anything Bournemouth had a stronger team playing today that lost 1-2 to a very strong Cardiff team on Tuesday, so I'll look out for that team sheet next week to see if your brother-in-law knows everything. Bristol City: Heaton, M Wilson (Foster 68), Cunningham (Bryan 68), J Wilson, Nyatanga, Adomah (Anderson 60), Elliot (Edwards 60), Kilkenny (Reid 81), Woolford (Pearson 64), Amadi-Holloway (Bolasie 44), Pitman. Apart from a 1 shot from Bournemouth we were always in control. Heaton in control constantly talking/shouting at the defence, Marc Wilson looked good, slipping some nice passes in and can even cross! Cunningham I wasn't too impressed with, maybe being a friendly he didn't want to tackle... James Wilson looked good, in control and used the ball well, Albert was everywhere chasing around and linked up well with Yannick, a right handful when those 2 are playing together, great to see. Marv & Kilkenny looked average, Woolford played well, he has improved so much under Del and Brett looked sharper, some nice touches and could of scored 2 or 3. Made a nice change to see us win in a pre-season friendly and I hope the other 250 City fans left feeling happy.
I agree, what some forget is we don't start with our first 11 either. Everyone is quick to state that the teams we played are not their starting 11 thinking we sent out ours. It's a game about getting fit, like we have been playing for the past 3 months. You can only beat the 11 players in front of you, we have looked better in preseason than in the past 4 years. We might be jumping the gun and getting excited but I'm glad I'm in the half full camp than the half empty. I'm looking forward to next Saturday to see who our starting 11 is going to be. Plus I have noticed that Woolford is playing better. I have always thought he was better than what most say. I sit in front of two people constantly complaining about him along with all the others around the stadium it is no wonder he plays better away from AG. Maybe this year with confidence we might view him as a new signing plus he says he wants to score 10 goals this season, let's get behind him to achieve his goal. If he does it, it is us that benefit from it. Even if he scored in 10 games we lost it still reduces the goal difference by one. See half full
So Bournemouth did put out a stronger team against us than Baadiff, I'm taking the day out as a positive as in the past its one of those games we would of been ****e so it was nice to get the win plus a clean sheet.
