After that heroic magnificent performance by Chelsea knocking out Barcelona the European and Fifa World cup champions Chelsea are through to the Champions League final. Incredible achievement. Now 4 players Ivanovic, Terry, Meireles, Ramires who got booked in the semi final win will miss the final. Now you have to praise and applaud chelsea for what they did after being 2 nil down Barcelona goals scored by Busquets and Iniesta, playing with no central defenders, down to ten men after Terry stupidly gave the ref a chance to send him off which I think also helped us to just sit back defend and say to Barca go on try it if you think you can play through the middle which is the only one way Barca can play. But they couldn't break us down. Man of the match for me is Ramires because once he got booked he knew he was out of the final but he still had the desire to score the goal to help Chelsea reach the final. Brilliant ball from Lampard to thread Ramires through who scored a beautiful chip over Victor Valdez. The winning goal was a £50m goal by Torres to seal the match. Cech was amazing as well his positioning was perfect making numerous saves and one of them was a great save pushing Messi's long shot on to the post. Collectively you can not single out anyone except maybe Terry because the whole team was brilliant and showed amazing desire, passion, determination, charactor and team spirit. But Cech and Ramires are the stand out performers. What will be the Chelsea team to play in the final? I think Cahill and David Luiz will both be fit to play in the final which means this could be the line-up: Cech: Bosingwa, Cahill, David Luiz, Cole: Essien, Mikel: Sturridge, Lampard Mata: Drogba. Now that is still a strong team.
Torres left for Champions League football but got Champions League Final instead....you got a Rumbelows and 10th LOL
My team for the final Drogs, if Bayern get through Cech Bosingwa Luiz Cahill Cole Mikel Lampard Essien Sturridge Mata Drogba If Real get through, I'd drop Sturridge, & because there's **** all else, play Kalou.
That sounds better tel! But we need to try the 4-3-3 before then! We've knlu played one formation under robby
Dead right Drogs but to be honest, after the start we had this season, these finals are a MASSIVE bonus. Thought I was going to have a heat attack last night and I just want to TRY and enjoy them. We literally pulled off the impossible last night and could we be any prouder of our club? Even the tossers (Meireles, Bosingwa & Kalou) deserve a massive pat on the back. Meireles passing once again was atrocious but he ran his nuts off. Kalou was **** going forward but defended well and Bosingwa I thought was someone else with a mask on!
Hope Bayern will be in the final but wouldn't mind Real Madrid either because to win the Champions League you have to beat the best teams.
No way for me, with Bosingwa on the right we will need someone to provide cover, I'd play Essien myself
For Christs sake, get over it !! Kalou is a very good player for CFC, especially since RDM. You NEVER give him any credit, which does YOU no credit. Didn't see a post from you criticising Bosingwas' performance, yet you were one of his harshest critics all year. Step back , take a deep breath and REALLY look at our options, don't push your opinions on us.
Sorry mate, no he's not. He's woeful. My opinions are my opinions and my one about Kaklou is shared by MANY Chelsea fans. BTW, please don['t try and tell me where I can and cannot "share" my opinions. This is a public forum & I can "share" what I like. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong! Yes I am a harsh critic of Bosingwa and you need to look at my previous posts to see what I thought of his performance. One decent game does not mean he's good enough does it? Try going to the Bridge on matchday and you'll see EXACTLY what the vast majority of Chelsea fans think of Kalou & Bosingwa. Just for you, one of my previous posts on THIS thread - Even the tossers (Meireles, Bosingwa & Kalou) deserve a massive pat on the back. Meireles passing once again was atrocious but he ran his nuts off. Kalou was **** going forward but defended well and Bosingwa I thought was someone else with a mask on!
How petty! trying to strip the lad of his moment of triumph. Although Ramires goal was technically enough the way we were getting besieged by the worlds best team and any late goal by them would have seen us out. Torres goal was mentally the winner for Chelsea because they knew Barca could do nothing about it. Now **** off you twisted bitter ****
There are two schools of thought. Play your own tactic and players regardless of the opposition, known as play your own game and let the other side worry about that, or adapt your team and style to the next opposition looking to exploit any perceived weaknesses. Then there is an added layer to team selection. Do you only play who you consider the best person in each position and trust that they will have the strength and skill to produce mean average of performance that is high or do you always look to see who is in or out of form and change accordingly. Then on top of this, how fit is a player to actually play the best you know they can and do they need to against the next opposition? For me no player can always play their best game all the time against all opposition even if they stay fit. Football isn't a computer game, staff and players are not machines. Basically we are organic and that means in a real sense anything we do in life is organic and that includes football. What is the overriding maxim for competition in nature..............that's it adapt or die. There are no crystal balls (unless a new type of surgery have been developed I haven't heard about). To use another poncy word team selection has to be made holistically to the best of the manager and coaching staff's ability. In short just cos Torres scored a good goal last match should not ear mark him a start in the next game. Doesn't mean he is ruled out either. The scope for getting it wrong is huge. That is why managers make a difference. Even when the manager gets the right team on the pitch and plays the right tactic/s your players can still lose from either not being good enough, making technical mistakes or just being plain bloody stupid. Some may argue it is the manager's job to keep the stupid out of a team in the first place. I would ask if there are any who would not of played John Terry last night and we all know he is terminally stupid from a long way back (I mean listening to Jody Morris I ask you). I definitely change my team depending on whether we play Real or Bayern.
Agree with you but with the suspensions and maybe injuries, we may not have much of a choice unfortunately.
