Questionable source but wouldn't surprise me if this is true: http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892...-no1?CMPID=FBUK_140813_ChelseaReadyToSellCech We need to make Courtois number 1 if we hope to keep him, and unfortunately that means Cech will need to make way. Besides Cech is a great keeper, with maybe 5 or more years at the top. We could probably get £10-15m for him I would say. All helps with FFP.
Again, not a great source, but it didn't take long for other clubs to take notice of Chelsea possibly telling Cech he can leave: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...lsea-s-Petr-Cech-as-Iker-Casillas-replacement God knows they need a Casillas replacement, that guy is past it. Would be happy for Petr if he went to Real to be honest. Would be a great move for him, Ancelotti obviously remembers his qualities from his time here.
I'd be happy if we could do a swap with Real for Khedira. It is likely that Khedira is waiting for next year to join us on a free but Arsenal are probably sniffing around him to try and get a deal done this year.
Goal.com is the worst source there is but if Madrid do want Cech then it's definitely worth trying to get Khedira in return.
Aye, I wouldnt usually bother, but I am just trying to breathe some life in to this board.....we have a lot of Chelsea fans on Not 606, but during the off season they have all disappeared.
Probably because we got our transfer business done early. I imagine after the weekend it will liven up again!
I don't see why we can't keep Petr on the basis we play him in selective games like the plastic cup, certain PL games and FA cup.. We'd be stuffed if Coutois picked up a bad injury!
We'd be in no worse situation than we have been for the last 10 years really when Cech has been injured. We still have Schwarzer right? He signed an extension, he is a decent back up keeper. If you are as good as Petr Cech, you will want to play every week moon, its as simple as that, he is too good to play second fiddle. We had a similar situation with Cudicini when Cech first arrived. Cudicini was a great keeper, no complaints here, but Cech was just that little bit better, and was far younger, big picture and all that. Ditto now, Cech is a great keeper, but Courtois is younger and that bit better, its not worth losing a player who could possibly be the worlds best keeper, who could possibly give us 10-15 years of world class service, just for nostalgias sake of keeping Cech for a couple more years.
I agree to a large extent save for 2 issues : - 1. Courtois only has 2 years left on his current deal and hasn't even played a competitive match for us yet. Whose to say he will sign an extension? I'm sure the club probably know but it would worry me if he's not signed up to a 4-5 year deal soon. 2. We still don't know if Cech will be number 2 for sure, Courtois may struggle with the P.L etc. Given he is settled in London and we don't know how this year will pan out, I think he should give it a season and move on next summer if he really has become a back up.
A Khedira-Cech swap wouldn't exactly solve our problem of exceeding the foreign player quota by one. Unless we keep Moses and discard Salah (not likely), we will sell Cech and that will be that.
On behalf of Liverpool I'm offering a swap. Glen Johnson for Petr Cech. Drogba came home to Chelsea, isn't it time that GlenJo came home too? You're bloody lucky being able to choose between the two. Would pick Cech over our Migs... not that I subscribe to the Mignolet bashing... Cech is just better.
There were loads of them in Singapore and Italy this summer and I have spotted a heap of little Costas and Drogbas in the parks of Melbourne since I got home last weekend!!
When you think he has only 2 years is worrying. Can we consolidate Nando's 2 years under Courtois? Cech + Cash for Varane would be a nice deal. But not going to happen, is it?
I doubt it, Madrid have already got Casillas and that guy Navas. I could only see Cech going there is Casillas left.
