Now I wouldn't normally start such a thread but i thought that this missive deserved a wider audience. I was browsing the Loft for Words site when this piece caught my attention. Most weeks they would have an interview with a fan of the opposition, this weeks interviewee goes by the name of Spencer Millman who is described as a Film & TV Producer and initially he is quite reasonable in his replies, but then the arrogance begins to come to the surface....... Would be rather pleasing to burst the bubble a bit on Saturday. Have a read.......(Hopefully the link works) http:///www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/36719/chelsea-qpr-rivalry-is-‘one-sided’-–-interview
Most of the Chelsea fans that actually go to games dont even live in London they live in Surrey or Kent. So its hardly a London derby
Thought I would post Lawrenson's prediction here......we may as well not bother turning up, mind last week he said that Villa would find us easy to play against nad predicted a win for them.....
I do accept that there are some clubs they regard as bigger rivals than us, but we would be either sixth ot seventh (depending where they palce City) on their list. Most of them despise us, which is how it should be. The long term Penshioner that I work with spent all of lunchtime in the pub trying to ridicule us. Not a problem with me. It's the pretenders that I hate. How would they handle another Rangers win?
I think their order of importance is something like Utd City Spurs Arsenal Liverpool Bayern Barcelona Real WHU and so on....
I would say that they may feel that they have a rivalry with Bayern etc. but that would be very one sided! The three European sides you mentioned would place Liverpool, Manure, three Italian clubs & Ajax way ahead of C****** as rivals. Rivalry is built from history not because of recent finance that has brought some sucess. As far as English clubs go we would be competing with City as to who was in sixth place. The other five you mention are definitely above us in their thoughts.
I don't need them to dislike us for me to hate them and everything they stand for, with every fibre of my body. Come on you R'sssss, win or lose, let em know we've visited that cess pit.
The problem is that when we were in administration and down to the third tier they were just coming into Roman's billions and a new legion of plastics appeared that wouldn't know their arsehole from their elbow football-wise, so to them there is no rivalry. Until we establish ourselves in the PL they'll continue to treat us like a fly that needs swatting, I fear the gap is unbridgeable but that just makes our rare wins all the more special...
I agree Terry but in their minds they think they have a rivalry with those European sides, they don't get it that it is built up over years, not just that they play them every now and again, but unfortuanately that is the mindset of the new fan.....
They are not really a west london club anymore, they are a global club with fans in Lagos and Thailand that really don't care or know about QPR. Plus plenty of fans in Kent, Dorset and Sussex that wouldn't have to go to work in hammersmith with QPR fans after derbies. I laughed at the suggestion of Grimsby in the early 1990s, there must have been 200,000 Chelsea there that day the number of times their fans bring it up to show they are a real fan.
They try to pretend that they don't care about us but the current thread on their board about us is their second biggest since may. The third biggest is also about us.
What do they stand for that our owners don't aspire to stand for Sussex? Exactly what QPR is trying to become. They are just further down a road which we are trying, poorly, to travel as well. I like beating Chelsea but don't think about them much unless we are playing them.
How about racially abusing their own players? Or how about Neanderthal thugs terrorising kids on the terraces of Loftus Road? Or having such a lack of class they sneer at their opponents on their website Or that sanctimonious Pratt on the mike at Scumford bridge I could list more if you like. They are all things that I don't think will happen at a Rangers.
I knew Charlie boy was too good to be true http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/282284-Charlie-Austin-is-a-Chelsea-fan-and-JT-is-his-hero
You will always hear the new Chelsea fans saying that we are not a rival because they have no history with the club. 70% of Chelsea fans have only been around since the dodgy Russian. They claim we are not a rival yet ManU/Spurs/West Ham are? Fact ManU rivals are Liverpool/City Spurs rivals are Arsenal West Ham rivals are Millwall So I guess the one side rivalry applies to them as well as most of my ManU/West Ham/Spurs mates don't look at Chelsea as rivals. Like their new fans they are trying to make up some modern history because not many remember the past. You R's
Actually going the the game today. My first of the season live and not on TV and what a 1st game to have live. I hear we are taking 3,000. The point is not if they care about us or not. I recall the filth selling the national front bulldog around the ground - they have always been arrogant - their fans have always been everything i hate and very different to our. I hope that we 'turn up' today and do not roll-over - I think this is a chance for Harry to show 50+ years of football knowledge and do one - if we by some miracle win today - I would give Harry such a 'by' past Xmas. Hope that he knows how big this game is for some of us and that he does not go expecting to loose badly - that he injects some pride and fire in the belly...today - in spite of all the vitriol I have directed towards him - he is our manager - this is our team and I am proud to be QPR and not scum...
