I don't know about the rest of you, but I find this a disgusting turn of events, I'm sure many of Chelsea's fans are grateful that Roman Abramovitch bought out obnoxious KB, and flooded the club with cash, but his track record of manager sackings quite honestly beggars belief!

He's a good manager. Pathetic to sack him. Who wants to manage Chelsea? You will be sacked whether you win the Premier League, FA Cup or Champions League!

Absolutely ridiculous, talk about more money than sense, that´s Abramovich in a nutshell. Good luck Di Matteo wherever your next station is.

Deplorable behaviour, my mate is a Chelski fan and he thinks this is callous and almost vindictive.

Just shows what happens when despotic owners take over your club .... Mark Hughes will be next and I wouldn't be surprised to see Di Matteo next on the Loftus Road Merry Go Round.

Could be going to QPR - I read somewhere that Sparky was asked to resign and refused, as he wants his payoff of around £5M!!!!

Boy, am I glad NCFC is run the way it is and a big thank you to Delia for turning down the offer of TF's money.

QPR perhaps? or would he be too expensive now?

Would their fans welcome him? I reckon they would despite his Chelsea connections as they need to claw their way out of the current mess they are in. Maybe Di Matteo could do it and could be one of the few that could. I am sure he will not be out of work for too long, or at least would hope not as he has plenty to offer.

    Bloody hell.

So short sighted words fail me to be honest. What is expected of a manager at Chelsea?

He won the Champions League and an FA cup last season and has brought in new players to gradually replace an ageing team which is the right way to do things, something the AVB messed up and he has still got the bullet. Incredible.

pathetic, cowardly behaviour of the owner. you'd have thought he'd at least have the chance to be in charge against City at the weekend. 4 weeks ago they were top of the league
i'm sure a certain tony fernandes will be allerted to this - personally i don't think di matteo would be interested, his stock is still high

They could employ Jesus Christ as manager, with Superman (the real one!) as coach......and within a few weeks Abramovich would get tired and perform his customary cull <doh>

Odious football club - thank god for NCFC, Swansea, and all other clubs run with some degree of integrity <ok>

Whilst I totally agree that it's ridiculous to sack Di Matteo after just a few bad weeks, I won't be getting my Kleenex or violin out for him just yet, he is going to walk away from this with his reputation intact and as an incredibly wealthy man.

Another example of why football is barking mad <doh>

the thing is, people can moan all they like about this behaviour but at the end of the day, how many trophies have chelsea won under his hap-hazard ownership? must be closing in on double figures in as many years, so in his head, hiring and firing on a consistent basis works. i was more surprised di matteo got the job in the first place than what happened today but it certainly leaves a sour taste in the mouth. he was always going to be a stop-gap until he could get guardiola. personally though, i cannot see him wanting it, at least not yet. its got 'go-compare' man rafa's name written all over this job <ok>

Let's not be naive. Any manager taking charge of Chelsea knows that they are unlikely to be in it for the long haul but that they will have a huge salary whilst it lasts and a massive payoff when it ends. Yes, I can feel sympathy for the way RdM has been treated but I feel a hell of a lot more for the people that Comet and Hovis are laying off just before Christmas without the six or seven figure payouts.

Whoever takes over will probably struggle as Chelski need to continue to rebuild as the likes of Cech/Cole/Terry and Lampard are on their way to the end of their careers and Drogba has gone but I can guarantee that there won't be a shortage of people wanting the job.

i can't see guardiola having any interest in the job. any manager not completing at least a treble of silverware per season is deemed a failure by the owner. mourinho was fired because he failed to win the european cup, RDM is fired despite winning the european cup. what message does this send to prospective applicants. enjoy the few months you will get?
