New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has earmarked a British central defender as a top priority for his summer spending. He has identified the centre-back slot as a weakness in the Blues' squad and is weighing up a number of British targets to strengthen his side. Bolton defender Gary Cahill and Birmingham star Scott Dann are among those likely to be on the list, with both players tipped for moves to a big team this summer. Arsenal and Spurs are both in the hunt for Cahill, while Villas-Boas would face competition from Aston Villa, Liverpool and Stoke to secure 24-year-old Dann's signature. A move for either player - or an alternative target - could pave the way for either Barcelona or Real Madrid to follow-up their rumoured interest in Brazilian defender David Luiz.
David Luiz isn't a weakness but a special talent, although a mobile roadblock (centreback) is maybe a waste of that talent.
