Leave the lad alone, he will have to live with that for ever. I refuse to chant 'you let your country down'. It demeans sport and, by singing it, we let our country down. Nothing personal UpminstR.

RTID - No offence taken at all. I have never been a fan of Team GB football or indeed Olympic football either. My biggest frustration is that it was a completely crap penalty.

He was playing so sh*te anyway-last shot went for a throw, followed by a pathetic free kick. Can't believe he took a kick. Terry probably had a word with Pearcey

Even as a Chelsea fan I'm no fan of him by any means but didn't he fight a life threatening virus (meningitis) to actually play for GB? Compared to Bale who seemingly feigned his injury and many others who couldn't wait to duck out. Seems harsh IMO but everyone's entitled to their opinion

Think he had bacterial meningitis - the less serious form, usually akin to flu like symptoms.

Thankfully most of the country is too busy enjoying the Olympics to realise. They want to take a look at some of those athletes to learn how to deliver under pressure.

Agree - whilst Jess, Greg and Mo are probably pretty well paid (although loads of athletes aren't) the sacrifices that they have to make puts our primadonna footballers to shame

The guy is a big headed cheat. The way he looked up at the QPR fans in that FA cup game with so much attitude coming off him as if he was something special. The guy is a muppet and cost GB football team with an arragent Penalty.

I think he had the viral form which I had once and its not life threatening. It just leaves you bed bound for weeks.

He wanted number 5 too so he thought hed have the winning penalty.

Players don't usually get to choose what penalty they take, so all this glory penalty is what's known as talking b*****ks! Also don't really get the Chelsea or any other football rivalry these days. Last year was the first time we played them in the league for half my lifetime, and we're not even near them in terms of quality. Players change like wind so you don't even have the same team each year facing each other. All I care about is through R's winning every week, what other teams do is irrelevant, and only really worth a laugh at the expense of your mates who support these other teams. Even arsenal very spurs is just another game. A lot of players from different teams are friends, and players on the same team don't even like each other! I'm getting down off my soapbox now, rant over ;-)

If that's true flyer I'll accept it, don't need to read the link. By the way, how many times does the 5th penalty taker actually take the winning penalty these days, cos I can't remember the last time it happened?

I dont know but I think its stupid anyway. Id rather go 1st and get it out of the way, then youve either scored and if youve missed, someone else usually misses after you and they are remembered for losing the game.
Sturridge, like Ronaldo is so arrogant that he must have asked for it.
