Now from Chelsea's recent performances it's clear that we need to invest in our squad again in the January transfer market.

Our primary target is Luka Modric and there have been rumours that Abramovich will break the British transfer record to sign him to temp Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell Modric.

Second target is Bolton's Gary Cahill. Cahill's price tag is £17 million.

Carlos Tevez's agent has said Carlos Tevez wants to stay in the premier league "His family are now living in England, so he's quite happy and settled." . But he wants out of Manchester City. “He loves West Ham... but that’s not going to happen,” said Joorabchian. Apparently Andre Villas-Boas is interested in signing the Argentine in January.

Despite Tevez's personality and ego he is still a quality footballer, his work ethic is incredible as he always works hard and he has that south american flair which is all the rage at the moment and he can score goals, last season he scored 24 goals in the premier league for Man City.

I'd be very happy if we sign a couple of these players in January.

    ------------------Cech--------------
    Ivanovic----Cahill----Terry------Cole
    -----Modric--David Luiz--Lampard---
    Sturridge--------Torres---------Mata

That squad looks impressive on paper. Eventually Cahill will replace Terry because of his age that's obvious but this season Lamps and JT still have a lot to give. Buy Cahill move him into the back four and put David Luiz in defensive midfield position.

So we're looking at 100 million odd in Jan then!! Really?!?!

As I said on an earlier thread, we need to treat this season as transition to a large extent and allow AVB time to settle in and to bring on some of the younger talent in place of the older players soon to be moving on.

As for the players you've mentioned: -

Cahill I'd agree with but only if Alex was to be sold. We have 4 top quality centre halves as it is plus Bruma on loan.
Modric, too expensive and no way Levy will sell especially with how Spurs are playing at the moment.
Tevez i'd be all for if and only if, his wages came down and he is defo settled in England now. Don't need him pulling his **** about wanting to go home every 2 minutes with us. However he is top class, proven in the P.L and will probably now move for a lot less than the 40 million they were looking for. However, can you really see City selling to us? He'll end up either at Madrid of S.America.

In conclusiion, I don't expect a busy Jan.

Modric isn't worth whatever rumors may be saying. We might need a spark in midfield, but I'm sure there's a better option around for cheaper.

Cahill we don't need in January, could possibly wait until summer and see how things play out.

I don't care if Tevez says he's settled now, I don't want the possibility of his **** swirling around the team. He may be top class, but there's too much that goes with it.

I agree that we shouldn't be breaking the bank, especially since we're supposed to be building for the long term.

I agree gefinely , with Tevez comes too much baggage! I think we can assume Modric is out of the equation for the forseeable future! To be fair if the Bison's ready for action in the new year I dont see why we need to target any new midfielder!

Essien is not going to come back from this injury any wher near where we need him to be...time to move on I'm afraid, we've spent the best part of the last three seasons without him.

Modwic...nope...Mata in the fwee wole ahead of Womeu and Wamiwes behind the forward line of Stuwwidge, Towwes and Womelu...

Tevez...**** that...we are getting rid of one stroppy twat in the summer, why replace him with that?

Ok not Tevez then but we still need Modric and Cahill. Chelsea need a creative playmaker and a defender.

Isn't Piazon coming over in Jan? Be interesting to see what he's like. He certainly seems the creative type though I expect it will take a while for him to settle.

Can I just ask your guys opinions on John Terry and the whole racist story?

Do you think Roman Abramovic will stand by JT if he is found guilty of racism or do you think the big man will sack him?

I'm not going to speculate on whether I believe it, although I'm not a big admirer of JT personally, I don't want to judge him before we know the truth. I just think if he is guilty it's a point of no return for JT and he cannot seriously think he's going to pull on an England shirt again after that, let alone wear the captains armband. By the same reckoning, if Anton Ferdinand is pressing charges and he doesn't know for certain that JT said that, then he is just as bad and should be made accountable for slanderous accusations.

I would hope if it was one of our players, no matter who it was, the club would sack them and make an example of them.

I see it the way JT sees it and always will no matter what.
Even if JT gets found guilty no way would i want him to be sacked, his our captain, our leader and our legend and Anton Ferdinands just a ****ing prick.
I agree with one of the above posts aswell, Essiens gone now and will never be the same player, i'd like us to sign Cahill and Modric because i do think they'd be very useful additions, and no offence to Bruma as his still young but his **** lol same with Kakuta aswell

Agree with Cahill, Modric would be lovely but it really is NOT about paying 40+ for him. Agree with SW about Essien, time to move him on and get what we can for him - a loyal servant and a fantastic Makelele replacement in his day but unfortunately not anymore.

Love Mikel but he's the wrong player for us under AVB, hate to see him leave though. Tevez is a ****er and we wouldn't be doing ourselves any favours in buying him at a ridiculous rate...

In January all I'd do is buy Cahill and sell Bosingwa.

If he is found guilty, I'd want him gone.

    I'm 99% sure he's not though <ok>

Agree totally with Mikel mate, he is not the right player for us, Romeu is the player for us in that position, and to be honest regardless of how modric costs we need him if were really going to change the way we play, if Henderson is worth 20mill i'd quite happily pay 40-50 for modric

I'm 99% sure his not as well but even if he is found guilty i wouldn't want him gone, even if he did be found guilty it still doesn't mean his done it, the only evidence is a crap video on youtube lol. Amanda Knox was found guilty but she was actually innoncent, the only person who knows if JT really said it like the video suggests is JT, and i don't reckon he would of instantly come out and defended himself and seem horrified with the accusations if he did mean it like it suggests.

Disagree! I'd hate to see us give the Spuds 45million for Modric to turn out garbage for us. TBH we should have learnt our lesson with Shevchenko (albeit he was quite old) and now Nando. I'd rather focus on Josh now, Arsenal did it with Wilshere and he's one of their best players. I'd rather spend money on a winger in the summer, someone who can take players on. Place Mata behind the striker with Sturridge and our new winger each side. Nando up top - and we have a TEAM.

Has to be Hazard or Hulk then d'you think??? Right age and a lot to prove but top class already.

    Re: Terry.....

If (and a big if) he is guilty I still wouldn't want him sacked. He should be punished accordingly and that starts with losing the captains armband for England at least given the f.a anti-racist campaigns.

However if guilty I'd put it down to a stupid mistake made in the heat of the moment like a 2 footed challenge (which can end a career as opposed to 'mere' words). You have to consider that in 10 years nothing like this has come up and Terry has lots of black friends within the game. If he was a racist it would have been established before now.

Who hasn't said or done something they regret? I for one am not perfect and there has to be a proportionate punishment. I personally feel him cheating on his wife and mother of his children (if true) is much worse than the alleged comment to Ferdinand (although of course not football related).
