...ever beat a Spanish team at the top of their game. Why is that?

 

We did in 2008.

 

yep and we missed a pen at the Nou Camp and created a host of chances at OT while defending well

 

And we tend to try and play football and attack sometimes.

 

We played footie... Gotta know how to defend and we did just that...

Thought we would go all out attack at the Camp Nou when down to 10 men with Bosingwa at centre back and Ramires at right back? I thought not... Yet we still came back to draw the game 2-2.

And that is precisely why you will never beat Barcelona. They can play you or anyone else who think they play good football, off the park.
We just play to beat them ,and it works every time.

 

Barca finsihed 17 points behind Real that season; they were in disarray and Rijkaard was on their way out. My OP said a Spanish team 'at the top of their game'; ie Barca 1994, 2005, 2009, 2011 etc. Or Real 2000, 2003 etc...
