Chelsea defender in the frame for QPR Ian Cooper, QPR correspondent Tuesday, August 9, 2011 11:49 AM Rangers boss keen to bring full back to Loftus Road Your viewEmailPrintGot a story? Neil Warnock will turn his attention to the QPR defence this week as he looks to sign at least one Premier League player on loan ahead of Saturdayâs season-opener. While Warnock has bolstered his attacking options by adding Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell, he has so far only made one addition to a defence which was the meanest in the Championship last season, with former West Ham centre-back Danny Gabbidon arriving on a free transfer. The Rs boss had a bid for Manchester Cityâs Nedum Onuoha knocked back last week, but has another option in the shape of Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand on a season-long deal. Bertrand is highly rated at Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old signing a new four-year contract in July, and new manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen to hand him some Premier League experience. That experience could now come at Loftus Road, while Warnock also hinted that Rangersâ transfer activity will go all the way to the end of the transfer window on August 31. âI think there will be transfers right up until the end of the window really,â said Warnock. âWeâre looking at getting a couple of loans in from the Premier League now. âIâm hoping to get one or even two in before the start of the season next week.â Warnock confirmed last week that he expects Martin Rowlands and Lee Cook to leave the club, and reiterated that there will be player departures over the coming days. âI think there might be one or two changes, not just in defence but all over. Iâm sure there will be couple leaving as well, so itâs a matter of pruning the rose bushes now and getting on with it.â Follow Ian Cooper on Twitter @QPRTimes.
Ryan Bertrand comes from a premiership club called Chelsea and has played once in the premiership so we can all sleep well now. NW is seeing exactly how we get on and then we will have some idea
Hope Neil is allowed to roll up his sleeves and land this one promptly. Too many hiccups so far with transfers, it's maddening!
This would be a good one. Promising young player, England u21 intl. Lets hope we can get him in before saturday.
Difficult as it is for us, can you imagine how frustrating it is for Neil? He must be quietly spitting feathers and sticking pin's into effegies of the Orange Italian Buffoon and the midget with the beetles hair-do. Nevertheless, if anyone can, he can.
