Chelsea were Champions League Champions for 7 months and 16 days, the shortest time any Champions had defended it for.

    :)

First team to go out at the group stage after winning it, and they have a thread slating City who had a much harder group.

New heights of failure from the chavs

They had an ocean liner full of luck to win a league they should never have won. They were lucky to have 10 points this year as Juventus hit the bar late on at The Bridge and the lucky 94th minute goal against SD. We are now seeing the real Chelsea. Any striker could have scored two against that crap and they're bigging up Torres' efforts tonight. They almost went one down at home and took 39 minutes to open the scoring with a penalty. That crap had a 13 goal deficit before the match so what have Chelsea done that's special tonight? Nothing that's what.

Tbf it is an equally epic fail and a massive wooden spoon needs giving to the team with the worst group stage performance of any English side...even Blackburn won a game!

Justice has prevailed- they should have never been there in the first place.
    Karma!

Actually they didn't do too badly for a sixth placed qualifier

What a waste of a 4th CL spot that was..Now hopefully they will stop referring to themselves as European Champions...smug bunch.

The victory was a weak one proven by the ease at which they let go of the trophy.

As Notso mentions...what about City? Absolute disgrace....nothing the '****,throw, stick' theory cant solve no doubt.

They were more than just a little fortunate to win it, after surviving some of the greatest sieges seen since The Battle Of The Alamo.
This year, their defence looks more than just a little shaky. You can't defend the way they have this season and expect to get away with it in Europe. In the Premiership, sometimes, but in Europe you'll pay for it.

I've been taking the pee on their board,I couldn't resist it. I posted as they were clearly not good enough for the CL this season that they won't be good enough for the EL either. They can't see the logic. Well I can. They'll put their second string players in it and probably get knocked out early. They still don't think that they were lucky to win it. There are none so blind as those who will not see. They finished 6th last season and are heading that way again.

As happy as I am to see this happen, (as they never deserved to be in it anyway) I don't think Chelsea will finish outside of the top 4, let alone 6th. They'll just go mad in the January window and buy their way out of it. Who knows, RA might have even lost patience with another manager by then!

It's arsenal that have got to be careful now. Confidence is a huge part of football and they aren't playing like they've got any at the moment. They need to snap out of the lull, and fast. The rest of the league is stronger this season and they'll get punished by those sides picking up points and pulling away from them.

In some ways I hope we get drawn against Chelsea. It'd be amazing to play them in this competition that's so "inferior",and knock them out.

Chelsea were mocking us because we lost to Real, well now they have done even worse, that will be forever in the record's of C/L history.next out Arsenal,i'm afraid they have nothing to get them through to the last 8.

Roo,I've had enough of Chelsea and would rather face continental sides. As for Arsenal well they play WBA this week which is a team slipping away a bit. It's difficult to say what Arsenal will do and the result against Albion might or might not tell us something. If they win then WBA are losing effectiveness and a draw means they're both off form. A win for Albion tells us Arsenal are in trouble losing two at home on the trot. I can't predict the result of this match because it's just too difficult.

Arsenal have the same problem as The Chavs - they can't defend. They've got away with it, so far, against some of the lesser teams in the competition. They'll get found out as soon as they run up against one of the top sides.

I wonder if they'll still chant the "Champions of Europe, we know what we are!" song?

Be a bit weird chanting that now after being knocked out in the group stages wouldn't it? <laugh>

Yes Spain I think you're right. Mind you Utd are losing a bit of strength too.

It's more annoying that they were given *our place* in order to achieve absolutely nothing. It's seems highly unlikely Spurs could have done worse!

    100% agree.

To me, it just strengthens the case for the fact their CL triumph was a massive fluke. They even strengthened considerably with the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Moses, Marin, Azpilicueta in the summer and still managed to flop badly.
