    Newcastle are closely following the performances of Bordeaux's young Mali striker Cheikh Diabate (23), and could put in an offer as early as next week. Scouts from the English outfit have attended the last few Bordeaux matches to look over the player. Other Premiership teams are equally interested. The player is under contract with Bordeaux until June 2013.

    What really annoys me though is that people keep on spelling Tiote's first name "Cheick" when he's been at the club for almost a year now.

    It's CHEIK Tiote! Not Cheick!

    Even in the papers they spell his name wrong sometimes, and it's not always just a play on words, as in "CHEICK MATE".

    They spell it wrong all the time.

    We were also linked with Cheik M'bengue today too!

    He's an absolute beast of a man, 6ft 4/5ish, 14 stone. 4 goals in 7 starts for Bordeaux this year.

    If you look at some of the players Bordeaux had on their books in the last few seasons then he had to wait for his chance.

    Blanc took the French national job, Bordeaux sold a lot of players anf this guy has only gotten his chance this year for first team action.

    I was trying to figure out what the proper spelling actually is the other day and it''s difficult. Even on the FIFA website they spell it both ways.
    Cheick or Cheik, take your pick/pik.
