Died, aged 80! If a flea-ridden, smelly, hairy, **** sniffing chimpanzee can live to 80 then there's hope for ER yet.
True but Cheeta lived in luxury and had good doctors/vets looking after him. When ER dies no one will find him for weeks, and I'd be surprised if there was a qualified doctor anywhere near Peterculter.
Clyde. According to "Visions of Caliban: On Chimpanzees and People" by famed primatologist Jane Goodall and Dale Peterson, the original "Clyde" was trained with a can of mace and a pipe wrapped in newspaper. He was viciously beaten the day before filming started to make him more docile. Near the end of filming the sequel "Any Which Way You Can," the orangutan was caught stealing doughnuts on the set, brought back to the training facility and beaten for 20 minutes with a 3 1/2 -foot ax handle. He died soon after of a cerebral hemorrhage." Then someone wrote this. Who ever reported these facts are wrong. Clyde- the original orangatan- was played by Manis the orangatan. He was to big to play in the second movie so they brought along another orangatan. It was the second one that was reportedly beaten, and died. They don't have the name listed for the second movie, because they figured the public would be stupid enough to not figure it out. Manis also had a part in the movie "Going Ape" with Tony Danza and Danny Devito!!! http://uncivilsociety.org/2008/08/the-death-of-clyde-the-orangut.html
Just heard this on the news. They quoted Cheeta's keeper. "He was outgoing and liked to see people laugh." FFS. It was a ****in monkey. The Geordies are having a day of mourning.
Yes. His career went into freefall after the Tarzan movies and all he could get was work doing TV adverts with monkeys he considered to be amateurs. Inevitably he hit the booze and the drugs and died old, wasted, and bitter. Tragic, really.
I wondered why he ended up looking like this in the recent PG Tips adverts... [NSFW] please log in to view this image [/NSFW]
