    England Boss In Ipswich Talks

New England boss Roy Hodgson played part in Marcus Evans' takover of Ipswich Town, we can today reveal.

The Blues owner took Hodgson to dinner in London while considering buying Town but was also interested at that time in Southampton and Leeds, so sought advice from the wise old sage.

It is understood Hodgson gave his views on all the clubs and football in general and suggested if he did complete the Town takeover to keep Jim Magilton as manager initially.

Evans is understood to have considered Hodgson as a potential manager but the experienced coach had bigger things in mind and later went on to manage Fulham but the pair maintained a cordial relationship ever since.

Evans spoke to a number of respected football people before making his move on Ipswich, and continues to pick the brains of top professionals about various club matters.
