Found not guilty - I wonder if the "golden girl of British athletics" will apologise for being instrumental in getting him the sack, doubt it somehow.
She didnt get him sacked, just was part of protest that stopped him from signing for a club after he was released from prison, but before his conviction was overturned. Mind you, I still think it was wrong him not being able to sign for a new club, as the entire justice system is based on the "you served your time you get a second chance". the only exceptions should be those who work with the type of person who fit their preference - i.e **** should never be allowed to get a job working with children
Although he has been found innocent, mud sticks and his career has been damaged Both parties should have been granted anonymity until the trial concluded
I didn`t say she got him the sack, I said she was instrumental in it happening. She was also, as I`m sure you`ll agree,a pretty high profile part of the protest.
Certainly not defending this girl at all but did she accuse Evans of rape? Rumour has it that it was the police who made the charge after an investigation relating to a stolen handbag. Yup I find it hard to believe as well. If he is indeed innocent does she go to jail? Does she get charged with wasting police time? Who pays for the court costs for 2 trials?
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for all of those who were, at the point in time, correct in saying he was guilty of rape, but who prevented him from getting back into rightful employment, now come to the fore and acknowledge his innocence. A jury with 7 women from 12 found him not guilty after just 2 hours. Just how weak was the prosecutions case that the jury just took 2 hours over lunch to make their decision?
'The Golden Girl' simply said that she didn't want her name associated with a Football Club who were prepared to employ a rapist. She wasn't telling The Club to sack him, she was giving them an option. Be associated with him or me. Of course quite a few other Clubs also contemplated employing him but quickly ducked out in view of the protests by their Fans. ----------- I find it very hard to think that someone who takes a young lady back to a hotel then 'shares' her with a friend has any right to claim the moral high ground. In the same way If Fans of ANY Football Club decide to protest if one of their players, or a potential player, fails to fulfil the requirements expected of a role model, then who can complain. They have a right to their protest. One of the penalty's of being a very highly paid professional Footballer is that you are by definition 'High Profile' and as such, standards are expected of you that are higher than those expected of lesser mortals. With the many examples (and at SAFC we have seen some) of what can happen when these sort of meetings go wrong you would think that Footballers would learn the perils of casual sex with strangers. It's not as if they couldn't afford, shall we say a more confidential arrangement. The one thing, perhaps the only thing that this young man is guilty of is that of being exceedingly stupid.
when I seen the cctv of her in the hotel foyer I was very suspicious of her claim to be to drunk to know what was happening
It's wrong to think women are more likely to find men guilty of rape. Actually studies have shown the demographic least like to find guilty are women with sons and the people most likely to find someone guilty are men with daughters - makes sense really. In truth most juries balance out enough that someone found guilty by 11 or 12 out of the 12 of them is, as close to certain as you can be, guilty.
That's a good point that I hadn't considered mate. I took it on face as seen, hadn't considered the sociological aspects of it. What we don't know are the demographics of this jury, and we may never know in this instance. What we do know is that it took just 2 hours for the jury to make their decision. But I take your point mate.
There will be no come back on the girl who had sex with him. He will also not get back any of the fees he paid for legal representation. I know this because my other half was involved in traffic related incident where it went all the way to trail. She was found not guilty but the accuser who lied got off scott free. You only get back the equivalent in money that legal aid costs, which is not much. What he can do is take a civil case out against the girl or against the cps.
Well his name is cleared now so let's see if the guy gets his head down and makes the most of the career he has left or if he wants to drag it all through the media still. None of this would have happened to him if he didn't shag that girl, and he went home to his girlfriend. **** him he's a div.
Pretty much this. Don't really care that the legal system has done a 180 on the case. Fact of the matter is, he knew the girl was hammered, and he went there with the intention of taking advantage despite having a girlfriend back home. Moral of the story: don't be a massive ****.
Agreed. However, the coppers and the CPS who pushed for this case should be strung up. I said from the off that if it had have been a pair of plasterers from Rhyl and not 2 footballers, then it never would have got past the desk Sergeant.
Valid point mate. I think it's obvious that the girl was after a pay out after hearing some of these so called 'rumours' of her bragging, add the media in there and it's trial of the century.
