I'd sign him. The whole situation has become a crazed media circus, a sinister cause célèbre. Why has there been so much hooha about Evans when there was none, or little, about Hughes, McCormick or King?
It's all been said... mainly on 5 Live... I don't think anyone at Latics can ever listen to 5 Live...
i would sign him for reasons mentioned before. i believe him and hopefully he will win his appeal. he is a bit of a knob for having sex with another women whe he already has a missus but i dont believe for a second that he did what was accused and what he got time in prison for. if he does sign for anyone before his appeal is heard, he will get lots of abuse thats for sure, from opposition fans!
The clear facts are that Evans has been found guilty of rape. Hence he is a convicted rapist! He had 28 days to appeal the sentence and the judiciary system rejected his right to appeal. As a result he spent time in jail. From what I read, because the verdict was by jury, I understand that he will not be permitted an appeal at this stage unless substantial fresh evidence is brought forward that was not presented before the jury at his original case. Most of what we read is put forward by those who support Evans' innocence. But they put forward 'facts' which suggest that the circumstances and behaviour of the young lady in question were not quite as straightforward as those which were presented at the court case. And of course if he knows that he is genuinely innocent, why should he apologise for something he did not do, because that means he admits guilt From reading current information available on the web, it is possible that he may well have received a bad deal. But as it stands at the moment. He is guilty. The judicial system will not let him play abroad. The hound dogs in the UK are giving him a bad time. And having served his time, he still has to pay for a crime which carries such a huge stigma, he will never be forgiven!
would those who dont want him playing football again prefer evans to be claiming benefits instead, taking your taxes? the court found him guilty (doesnt matter if that was really the right decision or not), the court given him the sentance which he served and is now a free man free to work again. let the man get on with it. if he did actually do it then im sure the women (the victim) wouldnt want evans in the news every day and being reminded of her ordeal. time for eveyone to move on. 1 thing is for certain, he will get tons of abuse from opposition fans as well all know what opposition fans are like. i know hughes got it bad from our fans when we played FGR. evans needs to be prepared for that and not react. if it doesnt work out, im sure FGR will have him!! BREAKING NEWS: he has officially signed for oldham now. already 1 sponsor has ended their association with oldham as a result. wonder how the person who made that decision would feel if he got sent down wrongly for rape and served his time and wants to work and start life again but is having the issues that evans have had!!
All of the info I have is from his own website so obviously it will be biased towards him and will try and paint him in a better picture. Here is his site: http://www.chedevans.com/key-and-undisputed-facts Although his site will be biased towards him as it is his site, you still need to remember that the prosecutions entire claim against Evans, was based on the women (victim) being too drunk to give Evans consent. During the court case, the following facts was brought to light: * The victims very own friends testified in court that the she wasnt that drunk and claimed the she drank a lot less than what she would usually do. * There is CCTV footage of her in the kebab house and at the hotel reception area just before the apparent incident, that shows the victim being able to do a lot of things that a drunk person wouldnt be able to do. * Clayton McDonald (Evans friend), was with Evans and admitted in court that he also had sex with the victim. He was cleared of rape because she gave consent to him. Now how could the victim be fit enough to give consent to McDonald but then within minutes be too drunk to be able to give consent to Evans? Either she was too drunk or not to give consent! Therefore either both is guilty of rape or both not guilty. You CANT have 1 guilty and 1 not guilty for doing the same thing. * Clayton McDonald testified that he was present in the room and heard the victim give consent to Evans. * The night porter on duty at the time testified in court that the room used was a room very close to the reception area and that he could hear what was going on. He said after McDonald had finished he left Evans alone and joined the night porter in the reception. The night porter confirmed he heard the apparent victim squealing and groaning with joy and shouting "F*** me harder" to Evans. Does this sound like someone who didnt give consent or was too drunk to give consent? * She apparently took to twitter claiming she will buy cars and go on holidays, when she wins big! Does this sound like someone who has been raped? Remember that this case was based on the women (victim) being too drunk to give Evans consent. NOTHING ELSE. I dont mean to offend/upset anyone about my opinion as I know its not the same opinion as how the majority of people would see it. But my opinion is based on the facts that are actually in the trial notes of the case, so its not made up facts that Evans has twisted on his site! So these facts are unbiased. Anyway thats all from me on this subject as its not really a nice subject to talk about.
If Rovers sign Ched Evans then I would no longer wish to be associated them. He has been found guilty by a jury of a crime that most men would not want to happen to their Wives /Daughters /Girlfriends and has expressed no sympathy for the lady in question which he could have done without admitting guilt. He made no attempt to stop the hate mail received by the ladies who first objected to his rejoining Sheffield United. If he is ever cleared by an appeal court then people might change their minds but his attitude is not endearing himself to people. All we can hope for the sake of all parties concerned is that justice is done and if that means that an appeal court later finds him to be innocent of the charges then so be it,
IMO Its because he's a footballer if he was a taxi driver or a window cleaner everyone would be calling him every name under the sun and if we signed someone like that then I would stay away from games until he's gone. Are club has already got a bad reputation over the last year and we don't need someone like Evans making it worse.
If you commit certain crimes you can't expect to be suitable for certain jobs. No one is saying that Chef Evans should never work again. However, a convicted rapist should not be employed in a high profile job in which they will be seen as role model for young people.
terms were agreed, just a medical needed but oldham have now pulled out the deal following threats to the club's "staff and their families" accoding to the bbc www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30727729
Well he could always get a real job like the rest of us I bet he hasn't done a hard days work in his live
Ched Evans Issued an apology via Sky this afternoon including to the young lady concerned he has also distanced himself from the abusive messages put out on his behalf. It will now be interesting to see if peoples perceptions of him change
I agree - He has done his time for a crime that I am not entirely convinced he really did. The girl couldn't even remember what happened that night!
