Hello Blades. It appears that our club has been linked with Mr Evans and wanted to guage your thoughts/opinions on him? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7011084,00.html
Come with a Big Price Tag. Really Struggled for Some Time. Think He has turned a Corner now though, works very Hard, and is starting to get Results. Would be a Good Buy, if He settles Quick.
Well.... Minus points:- He's got no pace He's not very good in the air His left foot is for standing on only He doesn't get into the box very much. Plus Points:- He can kick the ball very hard with his right foot. And Thats All.
Ipswich in peace! We've been linked to your young Right Back Lowton. I've heard very good things about him and wondered if you could give us the low down? Any info much appreciated! ps Stuff those Wendys!
Few of us had seen or heard much about Lowton until last season. I saw him play in an away match at Peterboro towards the end of the season before, but it's only really in the past season that we've seen him regularly in the first team. He played in the opener v Cardiff, at Cardiff, and got sent off for a slightly rash tackle. Normally you have to admit that players who make rash tackles deserve all they get, but you could see from this young lad's facial expression that he was absolutely gutted - in fact, you had to feel sorry for him - his youthful exuberance got the better of him and here he was, his big opportunity in front of TV cameras, and he'd taken us down to 10 men on the opening day, away to the promotion favourites. He's played fairly regularly after that and we've seen him at full back, usually on the right side, but can play on the left as well, we've seen him at centre back, and we've seen him in midfield. He doesn't strike me as a centre half - he's just not tall enough or brawny enough - but having said that, he's always played well there. In fact, the lad plays well anywhere. He's particularly good going forward and can pop up in the box with a few goals. Defending wise, well...I think he could be better - I've seen him exposed a bit at full back, especially if up against a fast winger. But I'm nit picking a bit here - just to say really that I think his best position would be right side of midfield. He has gone from being a young eager pup to being an accomplished young lad who looks like he is going to go on to great things. (And I don't mean Ipswich Town necessarily). Personally, I accept that we have to sell some of our best players now we are in the 3rd division - and I also think that no-one is indisposable. But of all the players we've got down there, he's the one I would least like to see go. Because although it's early days yet, I think he's got some right potential. A very, very good young player.
Dirty horrible scumbag raping a nineteen year old hope the jail door aint locked tonight hahahahaha get a taste of his own medicine!
5 years for the disgusting crime of rape isnt long enough, lets hope he drops his soap in the shower and gets a bit of his own medicine, dangerous pervert
Can someone explain why Evans is guilty an McDonald isn't? The reports say that they both had sex with her.
Last summer, as you will see from the earlier thread on here, I would have loved us to have sold Ched Evans and got back some of the reported £3M that we'd paid for him - and further save on the wage bill. At that stage he'd been here over 2 years and done sweet F.A. He'd played under a few different managers in that time, Kevin Blackwell, Gary Speed, Micky Adams, John Carver (caretaker) and none of them could seem to get anything out of him. He looked promising in flashes - had a great shot particularly - but his positioning, his anticipation, his first touch, his lack of aerial power, all amounted to most of us Blades thinking that he was the biggest waste of money since we signed our first £1M player in 1970 dot, a guy called Chris Guthrie, who is a legend for being the biggest waste of money since the club formed in 1889. (Although Jon Ebrell and Julian Winter, our current CEO, come close). Enter Danny Wilson as manager. A guy who has an unconventional approach to football, compared to most of the managers we've had in recent decades. He's got this funny idea that football should be played with the feet mainly, and that the idea is to keep possession and pass it to one another. This bizarre approach to the game has taken most of us by surprise. Even British Airways have resumed their normal flight path over Sheffield we hear, they had diverted previously when Blackwell was in charge. With ball at feet and great service from midfield, Ched Evans has been an absolute sensation this season. 35 goals tells it's own story. But, I guess that's not why you are reading this thread? The jailing of Ched Evans for rape is a very controversial subject and it is not necessarily as straight forward as what some of the responses on here appear to suggest. In my original post I attempted to highlight what those controversies are, based on what was freely reported in the media. I have made no attempt to apportion blame on any party. Despite that, it is obvious, from the following comment for example, that some people wish to interpret that differently. So, I have nothing further to add to this subject. Evans is guilty, by law, and is serving his sentence. That is all there is to say.
Thr, I had no idea you were at every session of the trial. I only ask because you seem to imply that his guilt is highly questionable and try on numerous occasions to push the blame on to the victims shoulders so it leads me to think that you must have watched the whole trial and have listened to all the evidence.
I just came on to your Board to commiserate over todays result. Better luck next season. As regards the question posed by Darth Vader,No.14,I seem to remember that McDonald got off because the girl had gone voluntarily with him,and presumably the jury felt she intended having sex with him, therefore,no rape. McDonald sent a text to Evans informing him that he had got a girl, and to get himself over to the hotel. Evans turned up,entered the room, and had sex with a drunken/sleeping girl, who had not given her consent, therefore,he raped her. So Evans got jail for rape, and he got what he deserved, imho. My problem though is that Mc Donald got away scot free. He surely committed a crime of inciting/encouraging/aiding and abetting Evans to come over and have sex with her. He should have been found guilty of a lesser crime than Evans. He was definitely guilty of something, imho.
