Not about skill, seeing as a certain mister Suarez can have his own skill over shadowed by this kind of thing. Maybe it is time to put things into perspective as one player seems to take all of the blame for essentially 3 things. The World Cup Handball - This is why most dislike him admitted or not its true. Row with Evra The dive v Stoke. Drogba - The Class act. The guy dives and cheats and then accuses the ref of cheating the cheater. To back the above comment, really, the ref cheated? Memory much Really, Suarez? Some fans forget so quickly and the media seem to think its fine. Roll off the pitch why don't you and roll back on to stop the game, this guy is by far the bigest cheat to ever grace this league I have not even scratched the surface here, in fact I have to keep going another 10 pages before I can start to scratch the surface. Drogba a very good footballer : Yes Drogba the biggest cheat ever in England: Yes Drogba subjected to witch hunt: No
Well, how, there is not one mention of a club, nor abuse nor reference to fan base or abusive slagging off of Drogba. The videos are the only thing that might not be palatable to some like koscielny with his strange assessment of the man
Hmmmm this seems pretty much like what Suarez is getting ripped for. Considering he's twice the size as Suarez it's kind of worse Not much though
IMO, any kind of defence of Suarez triggers dogs abuse for the lad no matter how you angle it. The only way it will change is if Suarez knuckles down and changes his actions, something he was doing prior to the Stoke 'belly flop' but his frustration at being kicked, pulled and stamped on got the better of him. Fans, pundits, etc constantly discussing him won't help matters either but if Suarez does change his ways then those people won't have anything to talk about I guess time will tell, both with Suarez and this thread...
Everything you say is right BBF, but Dev's right too. We all know Suarez is a hate figure and being singled out unfairly, but arguing the toss all the time won't change the minds of the haters. They're not interested in fairness, they're just as aware that it's wrong, but it suits them because they just want to have a go. Having said that, when they are having a go- maybe that's the time for a quick reminder of the antics of Drogba, Robben et al.
Think it all boils down to the FA and media making a big deal out of the race incidents. Now more than ever they are attempting to have a central hate figure/scapegoat in English Football(FA vs Fifa/Blatter). That footage of Drogba peeking through his hands was classic, makes me laugh everytime i see it.
Robben did the same thing last year at Bayern. Went down clutching his face even though he'd been nudged in the back, then peeped through his fingers to see if the ref was having any. Annoying bastard.
As annoying as it is, peeking through the fingers is very funny! The players that do it should face severe punishment afterwards though!
Retrospective punishment only works when they are consistent. Numerous incidents recently have only confirmed that its a selective process. I would like to see it being brought in for all forms of cheating and perhaps dissent. This way footballers would engage their brains before doing anything stupid.
I'm not sure this would help tbh, as most of them seem to have the computing power of an electric toaster.
Next up hmmmm. I think a player not even labelled a diver at all and has stayed well under the radar, I wonder who it shall be The Divers Cheats is a bit of sarcasm. Suarez is mostly a hate figure because of that handball and the supposed affront to our fake collective morality, everything after that just fed the beast
He did it against us too, remember the Oscar winning performance against Reina? When Rafa said he didn't have time for a press conference - as he had to go to the hospital to see how Robben's face was doing
Coincidentally Brendan has been speaking ahead of meeting his old employees what sacked him at Reading and stressing some stuff, including on Suarez, which made me put finger to keys. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/19/brendan-rodgers-quick-fix-liverpool Brendan Rodgers has said he will not abandon the principles that led to the sack at Reading for a "quick fix" at Liverpool, though claims he is a better, more clinical manager for his abrupt departure from the Madejski Stadium. "I will always protect my way of working but I learnt you have to have some flexibility." By shipping out the best Plan B in the league. Because Brendan doesn't do Plan Bs. Flexible, see? "The game is about getting results. There's no great problem in that for me," No problem apart from getting the results, obviously. "I am not crying for time." Stressing "there is no quick fix" is kinda crying for time. But FSG must believe there is a quick fix, otherwise they'd have had more patience after last season. Why would anybody take one step up then two steps back unless they thought they'd be taking giant leaps forward? "I came here because of the commitment of the board and the educated supporters who understand the position we are in." Do tell us, Brendan. What position are we in? We were on the way up with a trophy and wins over all the top teams. Now we're ****. Whoever was here, it was going to take time." Well, duh. Tell it to those "eduicated supporters" who slagged off Kenny based on not getting 4th - which didn't get CL qualification anyway - who didn't seem to understand the position we were in. "In Luis's first 50 games for Liverpool his goalscoring record was only one behind Ian Rush" Ah yes, records. Well, "educated supporters" don't set much store by records and stats. In fact, every stat is a lie. If you have no stats to back up your contentions then you're probably right. Which is why Brendan's record is immaterial to his chances of success. To prove it look at the record of Di Matteo, a manager of similar age and experience but with a much better record than Brendan before being given his chance at a big club. He had a win % of 51% and turned it into 65% at Chelsea. Clearly those stats do not tell the real story that Chelsea are rubbish and heading in the wrong direction. Plus add 14% to Brendan's record and we're cooking with gas. "There is a slant towards Luis that is more negative than positive." I have no doubt he's in the right hands to massage some hype to get the media kissing his arse. Talk about "retaining the ball, keeping the ball, holding onto the ball, being comfortable on the ball" and you're mainlining straight into their cerebral cortex. They need that because The Arsenal Experiment let them down and caused them to have to remind Gooners at regular intervals how long it's been since they won anything. Gooners can rest assured Brendan is making it clear there is no quick fix to being: Barca. So the media luvvies have already bent over for Brendan and when 'Build him up' turns to 'Knock him down' they'll move on, Luis will be featured talking about his charity work, like Drogba did, and his public image will be reborn as the saviour of football. Or he'll leave because he can't understand Rodgers' PowerPoint presentations.
MFG you do realise the main reason for Kenny going was not failing to get 4th. It was the calls he made during the Evra Suarez situation as much as football, merican boardrooms don't stand for such things. A head must roll and it was Kenny cos we didnt spend 24 mil on him did we. I wonder if we had had a 30m bid would Suarez have gone and Kenny stayed? But the Mericans were adamant Someone should take the fall for the negative publicity
