As I was watching our strikers bumble about in the Scunny match, I realised that our senior strike-force collectively cost a meager (in football terms) £1million. One homegrown, two frees and Besty. Ironically our only major outlay in this department in the last few years was on a striker deemed not good enough, who finds himself surplus to requirements out on loan since no-one will buy him. I know you shouldn't rate talent based on price cost, but £1 million strikes me as very low (less than 1/20th the price of the mackems'), and hopefully MA will invest sooner rather than later as we can't be expected to do well with such a limp strike-force.

Agreed. The sooner we get a striker in the better. Can't see it happening before Sunday though

Best was £2m, I can remember how outraged we all were at spending that amount of money on a **** player. :D

I think he's SLOWLY starting to repay that IMO.. especially after that ''purple patch'' he had towards the end of the season(before he got injured). <ok>

You can't fault his effort but he's some way from being a top level striker and I'd be surprised if he ever becomes one. Last night proved this.

He is infinitely better than Lovenkrands mind you, what an absolute waste of space that fella is. Useless.

That's pretty much what we'd spent on our forward line this time last year. Outlay isn't everything - it's what you end up with that counts.

This. He showed against Scunny that he is the only striker we have able of creating something. And he had a goal disallowed, which it shouldn't have been. If that had counted, you'd all be saying that he's our best striker. As it is your all going on about how rubbish he is. Admittedly, he missed some chances, but Ba didn't even make any. Best was in position to score anohter, but had the ball tipped away from him at the last moment. He is clearly our most potent threat up front, so until we sign someone, he is the best we've got.

  13. He should have had a goal last night, but he missed some great chances. He was 1v1 the keeper in the box and his shot could have cleared two sets of goals, and Lover played an excellent square ball across the box that he completely missed.

Still i think he's a great player, but hopefully he'll have better games than last night. <ok>

    I'm gonna say it...

Demba Ba is worse than Shola Ameobi.

Feels good to get that off my chest
