Of course it is largely nonsense, but evidence that we are punching above our weight: http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/280640-Transfer-efficeincy-league-table It would probably be even more favourable if wages were taken into account....
The combined total for the summer was just over £1m, Eustace was £250k, Deeney was in the £400-500k bracket depending on how much we've paid for appearances, and McGinn and Loach are the only other players I can think of that commanded any sort of fee. Seems pretty accurate as far as Watford are concerned.
Also, same site shows Watford as having the youngest squad in the division. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/championship/startseite/wettbewerb_GB2.html
We have the youngest but only just. I think if we had given the kids the chances due them this year we would have the youngest by quite a bit. Its nice to see that we dont have the smallest squad any more. I was shocked when i saw that Pompey only have 20 players!! It says the entire value of our squad is £15,500,000. I think the fact that only Coventry have a cheaper squad of the treams below us shows that money doesn't always buy you points in the Championship.
But it helps if you can afford to go out and get a quality player ...........like Fernando Torres Liverpool saw chelski coming Newcastle saw liverpool with a burning pocket!!
