Great player Mata, really liked him. Intelligent for a footballer, studied law rather than played golf in the afternoon. Great finisher: should get 20 goals a season if used properly. One flick does not make him a huge loss though. We got good money for him. And probably too clever for Jose, he likes robots. And probably too slow for Jose too out wide and does not press enough for a Jose no 10. Completely different player to Pedro.
I wouldn't classify Pedro as a robot. Maybe that's why he's been such a flop so far. I do agree though that Mata has far too much flair for a Jose team. Oscar doesn't press so an odd choice as a Jose number 10 ahead of Mata. In fact Oscar doesn't really seem to do anything which might explain why he didn't even make the squad against Porto. What a shambles.
18 months apart. Mata/Fabregas would be a more valid comparison: 6 months apart. Although Cesc generally plays deeper than Mata and certainly scores fewer goals when he does play no 10 these days. Both equally slow and poor at tracking back.
Mata was poor at tracking back when he signed for United. Not any more. I think we're seeing now why Wenger decided not to re-sign Fabregas. Terribly inconsistent player who can't drive a team forwards when things aren't going their way. It probably doesn't help that Fabregas thinks Mourinho is a ****.
Mata has been **** for weeks now. You wont get many saying it as he's a nice guy and you can't possibly criticise aa nice guy but he's been pants. Should concentrate on playing rather than talking a good game on his blog. Time to stand up and be counted, which he won't... Which is why Jose sold him. He's quality, but he's not showing it at all. Also looked so weak today.
I'm sure Stan will dig up your posts at the time. Non of which suggested you liked him but that Jose was right.
... think I'd rather have Mata than Eden 'my hip hurts and they are awfully rough - can I get a transfer and sit on the bench at Barca or Real please?) Hazard tbf
You'll never have either so don't worry yourself sweetie. Mahrez and Vardy will be good benchwarmers somewhere other than Leicester next season
